Hi Mudders-

I'm back on mud with a new name, been away for about a decade now. My name is Nathan and I live in SE idaho. I like beer, duck dogs, dirt bikes, PRS guitars, and rock and roll.

I waited tables for tuition in college and used my student loans to buy and work on cruisers, but got out of the game when I went to grad school. I've owned 3 fj60's and traded my last 60 for a 40 back in 2007. I've been looking at cruisers and have always wanted to fix up a pig. Last week i was one on Boise craigslist and left the ad up. My wife brokered a deal and I'm the new owner of a '75 pig. She doesn't run and is rusty as all get out, but I got time. I'm excited to be back on the forum....reckon my old account got deleted due to inactivity. I found the body panel fab thread in the stickies; I'll need some of that.

Details on the pig-
2f turns over with a battery, can't quite hand crank it with the tool. Seller says it has a stuck valve. Haven't had her long enough to fool around with it and don't have a 46mm socket. Will pick one up tomorrow. She's de-smogged, but appears some of the fine tuning was left undone.

The body is rusty on every single panel. Both front pans are completely rusted through so the mounts aren't even attached. The fenders, rockers, tailgate, pretty much everything. So, I'm excited to get working and make her proud.

Here are a few pics of project salvage the cerdo.

Welcome to the group. Looks to be quite the challenge on the body work. Are you planning to be bring it back to new or just a hunting rig? I truly admire you guys who tackle such a huge undertaking.

Well, I'm undecided at how far to take it for now. Back when I had cruisers in college it was my only car, so I always had to work to make it reliable and do my projects quickly. The 60 that I traded for the 40 was because I was acting like a total puss with wheeling it because the body and paint was nice. I don't wan't to be in that situation again because I like the mountains.

I have more time to work on this and it can sit as long as I need it to. At the very minimum I need the body attached to the frame and would like to avoid the dust vortex in the cab that can occur from rust holes.

Soooo, probably do it in increments.

Welcome. looking forward to seeing the progress on this one. I 2nd checking out @wngrg - I like the parts o pig with patina that he has going on. Rusty but trusty.

I posted a 'not mine' thread about the Vida OR CL one below. People tried to reach him, I did and got a very belated response. And the ad is still up. So if you persevered, you might get a great combination.

Just think of it as naturally aspirated air conditioning. Welcome to the ER section.
