Hey ya'll, long time snooper-first time poster, I've been looking into a decent tire that fits my tall and skinny aesthetic on my 60 Series. Previously I only saw offerings from Interco (Too Expensive and not what im looking for) or tires in 255/85r15 to get me where I'm looking to go.

However, I recently stumbled across these;

They are 33x9.5 and Nitto, I'm a fan of the Ridge Grapplers on my wifes Disco 2, and I'd like to stay with big brand tires especially nittos. They're for Side by Side UTVs. I looked into the load range, and theyre rated at 108 which is 2200 Lbs per tire. They aren't DOT though because they're not for on road use, but they seem like they may be a potential alternative to folks still upset about the end of the BFG 33x9.5

Any thoughts?

Does your FJ60 identify as a SXS?!?

Why on earth anyone would consider this to save a few bucks is beyond my comprehension. Not even considering the liability aspect of running non-dot tires, these tires are going to last a fraction of the time that a tire designed for road use on a heavy truck? UTV/SXS tires are designed/intended for off road grip, and while not a true sticky tire, theyre going to be a softer compound than a vehicle tire. You'll be buying tires like they are going out of style, offsetting any savings perceived during the purchase of the initial set of 4.

Kenda makes a 33x9.5 designed for trucks. Some positive review here on the forum.

Peruse this thread, lots of options, info, and pictures.

This one's got photos of an FJ60 on the 33x9.5 Kenda's

sounds like a great idea. Buy them when they become available and let us know how it goes.

Nitto is trying to keep up with Maxxis, who is dominating KOH in UTV. They have had a 35" and now a 37" coming to the market. I saw a guy here locally with the 35's on a lightweight Sammy but it is off-road only. No way I would run those on the road.

@HemiAlex is running the 255/85/16 on 70 series wheels and that’s the look you likely are after. Looks better than 33x9.5x15 IMO

Good luck!

Tall and skinny works for me.

255/85r16 km3.

255 is a good size but most of them are a mud terrain.

My km3 are surprisingly quiet.

Not installed yet but I just picked up the Kenda Klever RT in 33x9.5 for my 60. Walmart had a special at around $185 a tire.

I’m going to do the kendas on my 40 with a set of patina 15” 40 wheels.

Bezel has been flipped.

Personally I like those old cyclone wheels or whatever they are called better than stock wheels. They are period correct and were used in the 70s for aftermarket 4x4 wheels. They are hard to find now. That's just me though.

I sold them off to someone who wanted them for a more period build on a rest of world Isuzu raider.

They were awesome Japanese 15x8.5 wheels but not my style.

I would think Weight and speed rating of a SXS tire would not be enough for a Cruiser.

Kendas in 15“ or 16” wheels seem to be the tallest skinniest option.

Hurricanes or cyclones, can’t remember which or maybe they were both by competing companies!

🤘 Would be very cool for a period correct rig!
