I had a conversation with the guys at Slee and that's what they recommended ....running the new OME Sport Shock. Remember I already have the rear bumper with two swing arms and probably adding another 60 to 100lbs with the jerry can rack and High lift
jack... Haven't pulled the trigger yet just gathering data....I hear ya on the weight issue and listening...
I think i just need a V8 hahaha....had that conversation with them too......swapping in the Toyota V8... now that would solve the weight issue regarding speed...

I thought I would install the new TJM winch today but with no help realized there would be no way to lift the bumper and winch by myself ... So I'll get it done at work this week. The winch appears like its going to drop right in and bolt feet forward against the inside front of the bumper.... the holes in the ARB line right up with the bolt holes on the winch... Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I've never done this but it seems pretty straight forward. The only thing I had to do was clock the gear housing to position the clutch lever properly due to mounting it feet forward

I saw this on some obscure AU web site and searched for days on the net with out luck and then found it of all places at Cruiser Parts.....a little pricey at $104 but
figured it was pretty unique and could be unattainable in a few years...

Depending on clearance you might need spacers between the winch feet and bumper. I had to use an ARB spacer kit when I mounted the XD9000 on my wife's LX.

Thanks for the info.. I'll do a little research before I drop the bumper

My 80 is officially 70lbs heavier... I installed the TJM winch today and everything went pretty smooth ... I have not wired it up yet and will have to drop the winch to clock the winch as the handle hits the bumper and I have a offset hawse fsirlead coming from Slee

What sort of disconnect do you have in mind for winch power?

In cab controls?

I never thought of this until I saw it occur at a mall parking lot on a Heep, no less, but synthetic is expensive (some more so than others) and thieves know it. Easy pickings.

I used to pull the line off the FJC to clean and allow it to dry, then store in the back (mostly to extend the life of the line), but became a chore spooling 100', so it rides on the winch, clutch well within reach of liberation. Don't park many places that'd be of issue and have become complacent.

I crawl the mall in the GX.

Disconnect for winch power? This is my first winch install so not sure.
Yesterday was a quick dash to the dealership dropped the bumper bolted on the winch and headed home..so I didn't get into or even reveiw wiring .
But I did get a weatlh of info from Christo Slee......regarding the need for a offset fairlead and also told me to check to make sure the end of the winch was not hitting the bumper...where the ARB starts to angle back toward the truck and it sure was so ....winch spacers and fairlead in the mail and no doubt will have to extend wiring from the control box on the winch to relocate it on top of the winch....I also concluded I won't have to drop the bumper to remove and re-install...

Disconnect for winch power?

Simple

Not simple

Don't know the occurrence rate of accidental winch engagement, but insurance against for safety or potential power drain.

I cobbled up similar using an isolator on the FJC. Will probably keep it simple with the quick connect plug for this application.

Previously opted to mount the box in the engine bay. If you're short on space, or don't want the solenoid hanging out in front (aesthetics) and have to extend leads, may consider. Plenty of space on the PS to mount a bracket to.

Really makes sense if doing in cab controls. (Think Slee offers a harness for using OE switches, which is cool enough to warrant, in and of itself.)

Doesn't make as much sense to have to pop the hood and plug in controller.

The TJM winch comes with a kill switch.. on off isolator knob...wired to the positive lead on the battery.... this is what you speak of?

Yes, sir.

Pretty cool feature to have built in. Will have to check out the TJM's when the time comes.

Let me know and I'll give you my guys numbers...best price I could find..
TJM's web site is a mess ....so if you're looking for data go to TJMusa Facebook....works better then the web site...I just got a response back from TJM last night... from a PM I sent them 11 days ago..
If is wasn't for Slee and TAL4x4 i would not have purcahsed the winch.. I felt it was really difficult to get the correct information in a timely fashion...
So Slee came through with the spacer kit and the offset fairlead which I needed to correctly mount the winch to the ARB and my 80 spent the day posing at the fall Gold Cup.. for a day of Steeplechase Racing

TJM COMES THROUGH!!!! I got a call last night from Chris Corbett... Runs TJM USA .....responding to my PM regarding the web site issues and response time.. Great guy! Letting me know that the TJM web site should be operational in Dec so in the mean time he has set up TJMUSA Facebook as the go to for information... and is sending me the extension cables to relocate my winch control box that I was having a hard time locating.... With the TJM site running out of corporate in AU..it's been out of his control but is on its way to being fix... All is well!!
