When I bought my FJ55 and shipped it to IPOR to have a few things done ....
I was seriously a total newbie to Land Cruisers but decided I wanted a custom front bumper ... and started designing one on paper and then spent a few evenings building a full size replica out of cardboard and balsa wood. You can imagine the looks and laughs I got waking into IPOR with this thing in my hand.. Well we place it on the frame rails and it didn't look to bad.. So it was built and lives today on my FJ55 somewhere in AZ
Brings me to my current project.. my Jerry can holder...I just didn't find one I liked so I designed one and its being built and should be off to the powder coat this week.. It may not be to everyone's taste but it gives me a little satisfaction to know I designed it and it will be sitting on the back of this truck for years... I'll have better picture tomorrow when stop by the shop..C&P Offroad in Gainsville Va has a fabricator.. Eric.. this guy knows his stuff...

Went to drop of the rear license plate lamp housing that will be mount below the jerry can rack and snapped a few pictures..He should have it finished tomorrow and off to powder coat ..I stopped be a truck and trailer supply place looking for LED bulbs and walked out with this stainless folding step... Just might have to mount one or two on the rear bumper ...

Sorry I was outside about to drill my bumper..... If you look at the backside the band acts like a spring and locks the step down. The stainless were $25 and the powder coated version were $10

Wow looks great Lou!

X2. Looks like a complete package, with the inclusion of the cut off.

Had been debating a winch, period, but will be seriously considering TJM over Titan or Ramsey (the latter only due to being a Tulsa company).

This helped me make the decision... TJM Propaganda ... not sure if other companies don't have similar sealed solenoids but this was out there in print and as they say .."If it's on the Internet ..it's got to be true" hahaha

Lou

TJM Winch Controller is a much better device for controlling winch motor power. Contactor's are better sealed to corrosion, take up less space, and most importantly are designed to fail in the open position so your winch can't run-on. This single TJM contactor can replace all four bulky old school solenoids for those of you looking to upgrade your current box if interested. We specifically build our own and have a patent's on our own internal design changes.

The alternative in most winches is 1940's technology. Specifically, the electro-mechanical solenoids used in most winchs to control the high-amperage power to their winch motors. There are usually four, two for powering the winch motor & drum "in" and two for "out". As an example, here are the solenoids from our old "W" winch in the picture. These old school solenoids on a modern planetary winch are either under a black plastic cover or integrated in the winch body/cover.

These solenoids pictured are just old Ford tractor “starter” solenoids. They are prone to corrosion and failure, and can in fact fail in the “closed” position, which means your winch runs-on and can't be stopped without disconnecting the battery - not fun if you are winching "in"! Mostly though, they just quit working at the most inopportune time, right when you really need your winch!

Hope that anwsers your question:D Attached Images

The Jerry Can rack is done ..... We decided to make it bolt on so I can run without the rack .... He did a great job on the rear upright ... drilled all the hole for the tag lamp and has tabs for a light and the high lift jack. Need to drill the swing arm and get this thing on.

Awesome Lou,

hey for the TJM winch, did you have to modify anything to mount it to the ARB bumper? or is it direct bolt on? I am also contemplating a TJM winch fot my rig. Did you get the 12k one?

I did the 9k,, and used one spacer per side that should have come with your bumper... I had to get mine from Slee.....When you're ready to buy let me know and I'll send you my guys contact information he had the best price in the country shipped to my door

Lou

That TJM info is definitely propaganda haha. Most new Warns and even the less expensive Superwinch and Smittybuilt winches have all moved to sealed contactors.

As I stated....it was out there on the internet so it had to be true....
Hahaha..... righttttt
The bottom line was price ,features......and synthetic....I'm not about to split hairs over which winch is better...blah blah blah..
if i get stuck this winch will do the job ..and that's all I really care about....

One is very bright. May be blinding traffic behind you. Haha.

Wish I had known you were looking. I have (4) I can't use for signals, since the resistors are huge, can't return, either.

I'm thinking they may be too bright .... Here's one for ya... Thought I was ordering one of these small wedge lights and here's what I got ... Hahaha .. this thing is freaking huge

Installed the Jerry Can Rack today... Everything went pretty smooth including wiring of the new tag lamp.... opened up the tailgate and was going to run a jumper from the new tag lamp to the factory harness but once inside the tailgate ...the factory harness plug matched the new lamps plug.....so I pulled it out from below , extended it..... and had lights ......extremely BRIGHT tag lights!!!
