Dude your paint finish looks amazing now. Can I bring my beat ass '96 up for some loving touch up? Does your shop replace headliners and do that type of cosmetic work regularly?

Thanks.. It looks better in pictures.... As a normal course of business they are a body shop and glass replacement shop. To answer your question .... they do not replace headliners or wet sand and buff cars regularly. The small dings on the doors and a few on the hood where done by a guy that does paint less dent repair.. He's a independent contractor that works out of our shop about two days a week ...

I did the headliner after reading Treeroots thread.... but any upholstery shop could do that for you. It's pretty low on the skill scale. I had never done anything like that before but having the right glue and a heat gun is key... other then that take your time...

Got a little time in on the 80 today and mounted the 4 inch HID lights... I like the size and as stated earlier at $99.00 bucks a light it's really a no brainer for anyone wanting HID's .....can't wait till it's dark to fire them up.

So these 4 inch lights turned out to be crap... Don't get me wrong, they produce a lot of light.... it's just the wrong pattern for my taste...I wanted more of a spot pattern .. So this evening they came off and I installed a 20 inch Rigid Industries LED light bar....and I'm GOOD... Really good.... Photos don't really give justice to how bright these lights are.. I couldn't be happier.

looks impressive.

regarding your 4" hids... i'm looking for some 4" lights to put in the front of my roof rack and 4" lights will fit - email me via the forum cp process if you'd like to unload them.

Well I read through this entire thread.

WOW, what an impressive cruiser, it takes the right person to be able to appreciate what you have all done and I really can appreciate the vehicle! NICE JOB and very clean!

And the hottie in the blue dress is quite nice too! LOL I had a hard time getting past that page on the thread, LOL Kept going back to check her out again!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Grizzly ... I may post another shot of her next to a Lexus LFA but it could create a mess

Here's a few from this morning.. I decided to drill and bolt it to the ARB instead of using clamps and just ordered some security nuts so this thing doesn't walk away in the night...I also finally replaced the nasty gold emblem with the standard chrome and plan on painting the grill this week

One of the first things I noticed when I got my 80 were the mirrors and door handles.... They are chrome... I'm not a fan but could live with them... but the shaking mirrors were driving me crazy. So I picked up a set of replacement mirrors off eBay for $139.00 .... The price was right and they only came in black ... So today seemed like a perfect day to spend a few minutes and remove a few bolts and install the new mirrors ..
Easy....right?
Two hours later I have new mirrors.... First issue was after removing the three bolts hold the mirror and wedging it out a bit I noticed the wire ran into the door which was keeping me from removing the mirror and also required me to remove the door panel ... Which in my case is a pain in the ass due to the door pods I built...had to remove the speaker and unbolt everything .
I found the wire inside the door and pushed the release on the connector and still could not pull out the wire ...looking inside I saw the wire was attached to a plastic clip. So trying pulling on it and it's not budging ... At this point I'm pretty frustrated.. Until I find that you simply push the clip back into the door ... Felt like a total dumb ass!
I now have two new working non shaking mirrors
I also got the Ultra Scan mounted... Did the cut out of the fuse panel cover as others here have done ,,, it's great having all the info at a quick glacé

You know you didn't have to cut the fuse panel door. All you had to do was flip the ODB-2 mounting tab and the whole plug would have sat in there flush.

I was kind of wondering why you cut the door and didn't just loosen the 2 screws and rotate the OBDII connector down, but I figured, "This is Lou, he must have a good reason" Looking good! I have a shaky drivers mirror I need to fix too, good info on the electrical connections.

I didn't know that ... I'll be on the phone to Cruiser Parts tomorrow and get a replacement panel cover
Thanks for the info

Because I'm a dumb ass:confused: I saw a thread where someone cut the cover so I didn't even look at how it attached... I have a new cover on the way:clap:

Great build and nice photos too... ;)

Baseline

I bought my 80 last April and have spent the better part of the last year spending money to turn my truck into what you see today and have only driven it a few thousand miles. The only mechanical and maintenance issues that I've had to tackle were new front rotors and pads, brake flush ,new fan, PHH replaced, small oil leak up front fixed and changed all the fluids...oil and diffs.
So yesterday I decided to change plugs , wires, distr cap air cleaner and the thermostat and added some BG injector cleaner ...I was not expecting much of a change but on the way home from work yesterday I can tell the truck is running so much better... smoother and it feels like it pulls a little stronger.
I change the thermostat after talking to Ryan Scott...he just changed his and his truck is running about 15 degrees cooler....mine is now running about 10 degrees cooler..Very happy with the results
