I might be interested in a set too. I have the SC430 projectors and D2S bulbs and potted Denso ballasts all ready to go in. I just have to cut up my donor set of LX470 projectors first. This might save me some trouble BUT how strong will this 3D printed material be?

We are about to find out....the idea is to use ploy carbonate but we'll have the option of aluminum if we don't feel the ploy carbonate will hold up

From a 3D Printing Company

Polycarbonate is an extremely durable RF friendly thermoplastic, often used for high-temp applications, automotive and medical housings.
Due to it's strength and temperature resistance, Polycarbonate, combined with the FDM Process, is ideal for consumer electronics, lighting, RF testing, medical housings, fixtures, fans & turbines.

Polycarbonate has a bright white, high gloss finish and is extremely rigid. The flex memory for PC and when built in the proper orientation, is very impressive. This material creates durable tabs and thin flexible flat parts when built vertically, like a profile extrusion.

It's high heat deflection of 282°F is appealing for other purposes including; Under-hood applications, sterilization, radome and antenna testing.

I should have a solid prototype shortly.... I'm also picking up a few 2.5 projectors so you'll have an option that requires zero cutting of the shroud...

I've got a set of TSX projectors ready to mount up when I get a free weekend, but a set of bolt in brackets would be worth $40-50 to me.

Sounds good to me but how thick are you planning for these brackets to be? The reason i ask is with the SC430 projectors the bracket has to be sandwiched in between the projector halves. (If done the way @silverbullitt did).
However, it might be possible with your bracket to mount the projector either forward or behind the bracket....

We have not made that decision....this whole idea of producing a bracket for the LX was born a week ago so there are obviously quite a few things to consider with all the different projectors available.. there will still be some customizing when it comes to mounting the projector. I started down this road to install the new 3" projector.. I'm hopping to keep it as simple as possible so there will be variables to consider with each projector. I would like to produce two brackets ....one for a 3" and one for 2.5"

Having the bracket sandwiched between the SC430 projector halves has to effect the focusing for a clear cut off? Could be the reason he did that. I'm sure you could find the desired mounting distance using a dedicated bracket. If you are itching to get your lights done start cutting your LX brackets and get them done.

Hopefully I'll have something you can work with shortly...I haven't thought about cost yet but should know that in a week or two.

E30's are better. Don't get me wrong I love my tsx-r lens. Had them for yrs I'm just ready to try something different.
Thats a matter of opinion, everything I have read shows no real benefit: TSX Lens Swap: Oem, TSX-R, E30 Clear Lens Comparison - HiDplanet : The Official Automotive Lighting Forum Though I am looking forward to your results because all the lens comparisons I have seen have been on TSX projectors. Have you tried painting your cutoff shield yet to get rid of any unwanted flare? Thats going to be my next trick when I redo my lights this summer, that and mess with my bulb spacing a little more.

Do you think with the properly designed bracket that a 3" will fit in there without any modification to the shroud? Also with the different mounting depths of projectors, have you thought about spacing from the bracket yet? Maybe a set of poly spacers or I guess washers would work too.

Luke111 - I'll take you up on that, and get a quick techstream read on my height pressure while there, probably need to crank my torsion bars again. Been in many times for service there over the years, more when I lived in Alexandria.

I replaced the rear springs after towing a pretty damn heavy boat for a number of years, tongue weight might have been wee bit high for the LX, but it was only 5 miles to where I put the boat in on the Potomac.

No i think I'll have to open up the shroud to fit the 3" and we have discussed spacers

Mind pointing out where? Having trouble finding it.

If you start producing these I'll need a set of the 3" plates to hopefully find a good shroud solution.

I'll most likely get laughed right off Mud for this one but I was on AliExpress and saw these custom fitted vinyl/rubber floor mats. Watched a video showing them being hosed off so I bought them... $108.00 . Surprisingly the fit is unbelievable they're pretty Blingy but I'm gonna run with them for a while ...definitely don't like the metal bling plate for the drivers side will probably glue some carpet on that but for now these will work as this is my daily driver.. I took 3 minutes to install ...I'll take better pictures in the daylight you can laugh at me if you want

Lou, do you have a link for these? I saw some but didn't look like these. I actually like those, full protection for your carpet

Not sure i understand what you mean by "Mind pointing out where? Having trouble finding it"

You said you had already discussed spacers in relation to mounting the projector to your printed plate. I couldn't find said discussion so I asked you to point it out. Miscommunication on both ends? Lol Regardless I feel like I'm cluttering the thread at this point.

Meaning discussed with the guy designing the bracket

I have no flare, glare or unwanted light. Just spoken to a few professional saying E30's are better. Then I read info for myself

No glare or flare. Light where it needs to be
