We have a leather specialist at work who cleans, dyes and repairs leather for our Pre-Owned cars and service clients. As clean as my truck was when I bought it the fronts seats were a little dirty and the fronts passenger seat had a small area that look like something had spilled on the seat left a light stain. One hour later he dropped off my truck and here's the results two front seats were re-dyed backseat was steam cleaned only.

what did you pay for the grom unit? where did you order from? Thanks!
From Grom Audio..paid the price listed on their site$132.99 and bought the Aux and USB cable for $14.99

The HID retrofit headlights are completed and should be installed tomorrow and since all the lights up front will be white I swapped out my side marker lights to LED. I purchased the JDMaster and the Philips
The JDM is on the left and is bighter then the halogen headlights... the Philips is toned down and looks great. Pretty nice $15.00 upgrade

It's a pretty easy job and you have step by step instructions here on MUD and I don't want the responsibility of screwing up someones light's.
This was my first time doing a retrofit and if you consider you don't have to remove or change the projectors...it's really is a simple mod
The hardest part of the job is removing the headlight trim without cracking it.
Also after baking the light as you're separating the headlight covers the sticky headlight glue will get on the sides off the chrome interior shroud and is pretty much impossible to remove so as you start to separate the covers cut the glue with a razor knife which will help

you know, there are guys over at TACOMAWORLD that do a bunch of these retrofits. I bet they could do LX lens as well. I was never comfortable with baking $500 headlights. they do the black headlight mod or BHLM for short. lots lot guys paint the chrome bezel black. wonder how it would look on our trucks?

So I got the lights installed but they are coming out . The light throw is splotchy....talking to Charles who did SC430 projectors...he thinks i need to grind down the squirrel holes flush...i simply covered them with JB weld and I also noticed finger prints on the lens which is also contributing to the splotchy light that you can see in the first picture vs my 80 in the 2nd and Charles LX with SC430 projectors.. Something is up with those holes and I'm determined to figuring it out

I called a fellow Mudder who's local to me regarding tire size for my LX because he has a 100 series and 80 series. I asked him specifically about 295 70/18 tires and to my surprise he had 5 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 with 4000 miles on them sitting in his basement that he was to selling... mounted and balanced today and will have to breakout the heat gun as they just touch while turning

great looking rig from someone who has the same set up in the southern part of the state! Can I ask what the heat gun process was to make it so the tires didnt rub.

Thanks!

I noticed you're running spacers? if you are still rubbing the area in the photo below, which is plastic. Simply heat it up really good and flatten it a bit and you'll get clearance

awesome, Ill give it a go. If your ever down in Hampton Roads, Let me know!

Also, I'll be keeping a close eye on your build thread. Seems your off to a good start!

Came home and got to work on the HID fog lights....
if you're going to order the kit from The Retro fit source.. make sure you order one extension wiring harness that connects to the ballast and another extension wiring harness for the OEM connector... you'll need the extra length to reach the other light and the OEM plug on the battery side.. The harness only needs to connect to one OEM plug which will connect the harness to the OEM harness. The OEM connection acts as the trigger...sending power to the relay harness which both lights connect too. You might want to order a 9006 connector that matches the wire harness connectors .. you'll swap out the OEM connector which will make wiring to the harness simplified
I had to preform a little surgery on the caps that access the light bulb ... I cut off the OEM connector which is part of the cap...cut a hole in the end and inserted the wiring harness that connects to the HID bulb.. the rubber grommet comes with the kit and I used a little marine sealant to keep things water tight...
My advice is to firgure out and install the wiring harness first...and test your setup before cutting the cap and installing the bulbs

All I can say is wow... I can't wait to do the headlights..

Your rig looks great, my second favorite color! Question for the HID fog light conversion: where did you end up attaching the HID ballasts?

Inside the fender behind the side marker lights

This a pic of my 1st retrofit with the squirrel holes grinded down before I retrofitted with SC430 projectors. This the output you'll get. The light more evenly distributed. The hole leaves shadows & + the hid bulb is closer to the projector.

So I have come to the conclusion that what i thought was a simple HID upgrade has not produced the results I'm looking for. So I just ordered
a pair of Bi-Xenon Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0 projectors , XB Igniters to handle the new D2S XB5500K Bulbs and high beam spliter wiring harness. After reading this thread How to Retrofit HID (Xenon) headlights into LX470 and seeing Silverbullitt pictures...this should produce the right output and I can take my time as i have 3 extra LX headlights to work with.

I hope you understand that the Mini D2s 4.0 is a 3" projector and our stock LXs have a 2.5" projector. Meaning you will need to modify the shroud to get that projector to fit.

I have created a LX headlight upgrade database in the FAQs that lists all current retrofits for the LX. Me and many others went with the TSX projector because it has proven output and is a very simple retrofit. It also could have shown you that the HID retrofit into the stock setup was less than adequate.

I have your database saved and thanks...yes I do know the D2s 4.0 is 3" . I had a hour discussion this morning with TRS and brought that up. I'm going to give it a shot and I'm prepared to modify the shroud or drop down to the smaller projector.

I'll be following along. Though when I tried to mock up a 3.0 that I had in my garage, I would have had to completely remake the shroud.

If you trimmed out the hole enough in the stock shroud, there would be barely enough room to mount a wide shroud (to cover the hole), but then my only concern is space allocated for movement of aiming the projector. Plus all the shrouds I had on my shelf did not go well with the stock shroud design wise. It was just way too custom for me to spend my time on currently. Maybe once I get a second set of OEM housings...

That's good information.... I should have them in a few days..... I have a set of OEM lights opened up and will see whats involved
