2006 LX 470 - DVD bypass using violet and red/white wire modification works on the 06. The wires are in a different configuration on the connector, but it is the top left connector when looking at the NAV from the back. I connected the red/white wire from the NAV side to the metal siding of the stereo. Also added VAIS with no problems. Took less than 2 hours to do both. DVD mod took 30min. Well worth the time.

this is an easy mod. I did it in 15 minutes in the dark on my 03. The write up on mud walks you right through it, however, you do have to use a little common sense.

my lc is 09 i have try the 5 point touch and nothing

Your 2009 LC (200 Series) is a completely different generation navigation system then our 100 Series. These tricks more than likely will not work on yours.

Guys,

I have a 2004 LC100 with a Gen 4 Nav.

Been a long time since I posted on this thread but here goes a wierd one. In 2009 I put the permanent hack in place so I can use my GPS while traveling. It is the one where you touch the upper left circle on the Destination screen and it takes it from there clicking all of the bypass buttons. Worked great for years even through 2 DVD upgrades. Last week, I bought the latest OEM DVD published in Oct 2011, and now the hack doesn't work.

I didn't think the motion lock out was monitored by the DVD? anyone know the linkage here?

Thanks

Scott

Did that "hack" a few times on the 03. Found the Override button with no problems. Hit the back button and then what?

- Should the DVD be playing in the background already?
- Should the DVD in question be loaded in between the seats in he changer, or in the rear console to display in the front?
- I did manage to hear the intro part of the "Concert DVD"..

I ran the process about 3-4 times with no image.

This is the exact thing I get. I'm not trying to access it while moving, just confirm it works prior to cutting anything.

I was under the impression the video went to the back monitor only(which i don't have). Am I missing something?

edit: finally put 2&2 together, ebrake has to be up ;)

2005 LC with Nav here:

I've also had trouble using the Override. I can enter into the secret menu just fine, however pressing and holding the "Override" button still does not allow video to be displayed.

Has anyone had a similar issue with the '05?

To help take a little confusion out of trying to establish colors. Attached is a drawing of the M5 connector. On the M5 connector the wire you want to grd on the plug side(red/white) is pin 16. The VSS wire you want to cut and terminate each end (colors vary) is located at pin 25.

Thanks for this thread, finished the mod on my new-to-me 2005 LC. It was an easy process and allows me to use my bluetooth phone while driving, too.

I can't seem to find a definitive answer so I'll put it here....

Is there a way to disable the initial start-up caution screen, so I don't have to hit agree every time I drive the car ('06 LX470)? I recently updated from v10.1 to v15.1, and it still pops up everytime.

A VAIS SL3B has an optional "I agree bypass" where it automagically presses the "I Agree" button after 5-10 seconds, (it also adds streaming music over bluetooth) .

On a side note... has it been done or is it possible to run maps other than the factory street maps? Meaning, I would be great to run Topo maps inlieu of street navigation. Probably not feasible but thought I would ask the question.

Well, you could do this with the GROM VLine, then run some Android topo map software displayed on the OEM screen.

(I haven't seen a simple DVD swap that would put topo maps on OEM nav.)

How is the audio quality with the VAIS unit?

Other than VAIS, any other options to removing the "I agree" message?

Vais audio quality wasn't bad, better than cassette or FM options for getting input from phone/mp3 player. I've still got mine plugged in solely for the "I Agree" bypass. I'm using a Grom VLine for music and other functions at this point in time.

Another alternative might be:
APPLICATION GUIDE

but I have no direct experience with it.

Thanks. So what does the grom vline do that the Vais does not?

The big difference is the ability to run Android apps (CarPlay, Waze, Spotify, Torque, etc) on the OEM navigation screen.
