Nice. Looks like a good really cheap insurance for the control arms if you got lots of weight up front. Might pick up a set before I install my OME torsion bars.

I can't tell whether your previous tires were km's or km2's. Which were they? Since you've been driving on the trail grapplers for a bit now, how do they compare to your previous tires? This is something i've been going back and forth between.

They were KM2's, it's hard to compare them accurately because they were 285/75r16's and the new nitto's are 35's. The nitto's are a bit softer than the KM2's therefore they howl a bit more, but they drive nice. Over here the KM2's are a lot dearer than what I paid for the nitto's so I would expect them to be better. Just by looking at the Tyres I think the KM2's would last longer, but the softer compound of the trail Grapplers will make them better offroad, but not go as many km's. Or miles haha.

The LCA brackets that ARB sold me were like $20, so yeah, very cheap insurance.

nice work

I'm surprised the locker from a 105 would fit the 100.

Yeah the rear diff centre is exactly the same, but it is different between the 80's and 100's, contrary to what a lot of people seem to think.

Alright! The bullbar and side rails / side steps are back on, wheel alignment done and lights are all wired up, just going to wait til its dark to adjust them...

The colour of the bar work looks brownish in these photos due to the lighting (a lot of people are burning off before fire season over here and its really smokey.) Its actually metallic graphite. I was a unsure about the colour at first but once I got it all on the car I was happy with it!

Enjoy the eye candy, cos this is the last post until i get my UCA's on, which will be a few weeks haha. I'll try and take pics of fitting them as I go so anyone who isn't sure if they can do it themselves can see how to do it. I am guessing its going to be a pretty straight forward job... touch wood haha.

So your neighbor drives a Safari!

Awesome truck Nathan! Love the feaux ih8mud license plate:D

Haha, I thought the plates would get a laugh, Im not sure what you call a safari, over here they're called patrols, Nissan did make a spec'd up model of the patrol called a safari if thats what you mean, but the neighbour's is just a DX model Patrol (base model ... I think.)

Haha, I'll get a couple of side pics tomorrow

Quick question, if you where to go over a big bump quickly, and both front wheels bottomed out simultaneously...i s it buy buy fenders or have you made some form of mod to fix that.

From the pic it looks like of the tyres travel 5" up its game over for the body work. :frown:

Just wondering cus my tyres protrude far less than those and I tore a fender innards out last weekend.

Correct you are mate, this is why I am refraining from going offroad for now haha. Once the UCA's and kings are in, and the final height adj's are made I'm going to address the situation... not 100% on how yet though. I was reading a thread the other day about those timbren bump stops .. they may be an option, but I'll post up what I end up doing anyway ;)

As far as i know the problems with the lower control arms cracking has only been reported in Australia, and only on HDJ models (diesel engine is alot heavier than petrol) with bullbar, winch +++ driven vigorously on bad dirt roads... If i remember corectly this also only affects some of the earliest years where the weld seam did not go all the way to the end of the joint between the two stamped parts that make the control arm. I have never heard or read about this problem on a petrol 100, or a 100 outside australia.

aaah I thought so...

Just be careful, I did quite a bit of damage and now need a whole new inner plastic lining for my fender, wont be going back to 35's for the kind of driving I do. I need high spead on gravel and desert driving.... im almost better off with the 285/75/16's on the OME as it gives huge amounts of travel.

yours looks like a propper MONSTER with that setup now!

Anders, yeah i agree in that the cracking only affected the early years, but anyway the old thing about belts and braces maybe?
Nath,

you've got 12.5" rims? yes? So did you need an engineers certificate to get the modifications legal so you can drive it on the road?
I'm in Victoria, and i can only go 285x75x16 or 305x70x16 given Victoria adopted the new standard. So if i put on those rims, regardless of any other mods....CANARY STICKER (which for those overseas....is a sticker placed on your car if the Police deem it unsafe and/or unroadworthy)...which is why you hid your rego plate number isnt it!!!! hehe

Also, unless i missed it, you dont say what model 100 series or year it is...and i miss a lot, so dont mind me!!

i'm assuming IFS, 2006? V8?

EDIT just for clarity...VicRoads adopted a new standard early this year...so i can go 50mm above factory diameter...which means 285x75x16 and 305x70x16 are ok. I currently have 265x75x16 KM2s

Ok so I figured I may as well start a build thread for my Cruiser, which my wife has affectionately named "Sway". Becuase of the noisy rattle that was coming from my rear sway bar when I first got the car. Which leads to the introduction, haha.

I bought the 2005 model UZJ100R in October 2010, from a guy interstate. He sent me a lot of photos of the car, including the things that were wrong with it, or so I thought. Some things he neglected to mention were the CV's that were very noisy and dry from having the boots torn and never repaired and various spots of rust in the body.

It has taken me this long to get the funds up to start spending and over the next few months I hope to finish off all the major modifications.

The very first post haha. The Rims are only 9.5" wide, the tyres are 12.5" and the they are bigger than what queensland states as legal, haha. By the sounds of it, our laws are the same regarding tyres sizes. I haven't bothered to get anything engineered, I don't think the car stands out enough to get pulled over by the cops. If I do though, I'll look into it then, i have a set of smaller tyres that I can put back on if need be anyway.

Anders, the LCA's have been known to crack on the later models with the full weld as well, but I think you're right, it was predominately the HDJ's that had the problem due to the heavier engine, however I reckon there would be a few UZJ's that have hit the bumpstops a few too many times and had the same problem.

Here are the side pics anyway, to be viewed on a very small supercomputer :p

Mother of Sweet Baby Jesus, that looks tough!! I have never liked any non-OEM wheels on the 100/105 but those look downright evil.

Whats the deal with the OZ trucks not having blacked out trim around the windows? Are all they all like that down there?

That's actually something I've ne'er noticed haha, yeah they're all like that over here. Are all yours blacked out like that haha? I like the black look now that I've taken notice.

Yep. All of ours are blacked out.

That looks pretty freaking sick. Great work.
