That could be accuated with a screw too. Pulling both sides in.
That in turn will be a sloppy, finger removing nightmare until I'm the up or down position. Which kinda makes it fun.
That seems like a lot of height... Did you mean you were mounting to the trailer?

Correct. I want to put it on the little camping trailer long term.
But low when not in use, so it doesn't snag every freaking thing on the way by. Or beat itself to slowly to death while going down the road

I really like the idea of the 270 awnings and have come close to pulling the trigger a couple times. I always fall back to the freestanding canopy.
- It isn’t on the outside of the rig where it’ll get ripped off. My style of wheeling isn’t always forgiving to whoopsies.
- I can move it with the sun if we’re staying in one spot for multiple days.
- If I take the vehicle somewhere the rest of the family can still have some shade- I like to camp in the desert environs.
- The “roof” can be lowered for the angle of the sun.
- As a side bonus, my kid plays lacrosse and they have two day tournaments around the region. The awning isn’t always needed, but when it is you make friends REALLY FAST.
- If needed I could fit it in the cruiser.
- They take a good bit of space in the camper when in transit.
- There are four posts and anchor lines to walk in to after consuming adult beverages.
- Potential for being a weapon, let me explain. At a lax tournament this spring I used the break between games to go for a bike ride. I had several adult types enjoying the shade it was providing. I had a lovely road ride and came back to the canopy in a crumpled pile. While I was gone there was a micro burst that picked up the canopy and slammed it down. No one was hurt, that was good news. I had looked at the weather and chosen not to anchor the canopy (lazy, I know). I now have a new canopy and a new anchors system that is easier and more secure.

I wasn't going to say anything after I read the words "brain trust" but...
This seems kind of cumbersome but maybe it will get the juices flowing to something better... after seeing the trailer, that helps visualize something...
Could the awning be mounted to some posts that are the correct height to to mount on the trailer where you want to use it, and those posts fit into receivers permanently mounted on the trailer -i.e. a 1" 30" long tube fits inside a 1 1/2" x 1/4 wall tube that's only a few inches long welded to side of trailer (or bolted) and gets pinned. For storage or travel would it be possible to have more receiver type tubes mounted under the tent and the legs go in sideways and the awning stays low and close? Another thought is you could have combinations of receiver tubes mounted around the trailer and deploy the awning on different sides.
Like I said probably too cumbersome but maybe it can lead to something.

Oddly enough, I had the trailer built with reciever tubes on all 4 corners. I kinda thought about going off of those, but I think I'd need some triangulation in order to stiffen things up and not have a wobbly mess.
Even bad ideas. If for nothing else, they might spark another idea.
Kinda what I'm thinking is there's a vertical part that stands vertically front and back. If i bolt a ln 8020 extrusion to that, I can make a sliding section that goes up with a brake to hold it up.
I'm not sure I've got the room to get the travel I need. I'll have to clamp some blocks of wood down, make some marks to see if I can get what I want it off it or not.
Then it's a $500 gamble on material whether or not it'll work.

There’s a tremendous amount of wind load and wobble to have to account for.
I was envisioning the whole thing attached to your lid, but I now see your reciever tubes, they’re bonafide 2” jack points. That’s an excellent place to build from.
Maybe think in terms of x bracing up and across those jack mount points, 2 or 3 verticals and 1 or 2 x’s?
All built off a tube that fits in the receiver, but also receives the jack as original.
Is the whole awning self supporting? No ground points? That really complicates things too. Can you go off three corners of the trailer?
Yeah I just like muddying the waters. 8x20 EzUp must weight a ton.
Straps would be a quick and cheap solution for bracing that weighs almost nothing. And it's adjustable.
I’ve been trying to figure out the trailer awning for a while. Although it has never been a huge focus, but I want to be able to move mine to trailer sometimes.
One of my goals was to build a hunting trailer. I wanted an attached dining fly with lighting to have a bug free zone to rest and recover in. Plus there would be a fold out table with a drop in sink for game processing.
It will have both gasoline and a propane tank. Solar panels and a battery bank. On the tongue a small generator with a heat exchanger for the exhaust to make hot water. I'd like to have a insulated freezer box under the bunk to hold a boned out elk. Freezer could be powered by solar or the genny

I could always buy a smaller one. I bought that one specifically to cover the back of the goose when Chris and I built the camper for SAS7.
It can't be 8x20. Must be 8x16 or something. Either way, it's freaking huge when in the bag.

That's probably where an EZup would be the simplest solution. They sell them with about whatever you want for sides.
I like designing, building, fixing and doing stuff. That's why I don't take my rigs to the shop, shoot factory ammo, go out to eat....
Being able to fend for yourself shields you from all the parasites. Besides, I will not take the mark of the beast so buying and selling will be out. However, I think barter will stiff work even when Eloon runs Bartertown.
