just wanted to share a couple pics. as i've really come to like this thing, in the two years i've been driving it, though i've owned it since '01.
this is my daily driver. it has 230Ksome miles on it. i run it 55 miles a day, and it runs like a champ.......as they all should.
it has a full desmog and a weber 38, i'm not proud of the weber. till i have the oem carb overhauled for the desmog the weber needs to stay. the milage is down, but it starts with in half a crank and purrs like a kitten.
it's far from being as built as others on here, but it does what i need it to do. a roof rack is in teh works, the canoe is hard on the roof. teh drivers seat is getting rough, but the rest of the interior is great shape, more so considering it's past.
it received poor/little care from it's last PO/2nd owner. those issues had been a thorn or three in my side. a few of which led to the de-smog, otherwise i would have let things be.
she has a few things on the honey do list yet.
a valve cover gasket is pretty high on the list.
i've been threatening an lsd in the rear forever now.
and lately a full floater in the rear has been given thought.

It has been said before, but the engine looks great with a good desmog!

Nice looking rig!

You mentioned the driver's seat, here was my quick and inexpensive fix... LINK

wow. mine is nowhere near that bad.
it has what is maybe a 2"dia hole blown out.

I think someone stole all your vacuum tubes... :D

Looks great. Don't you have emissions in PA?

Mine was desmogged in AZ and had to resmog for MA.

Is that the MAF header?

What wheels are those?

i don't know i would call it a good desmog. but it runs good.
the only vacuum lines it has any more are to the pvc and the brake booster.

Yep, I think the previous owner wore sand paper pants.

Bought it this way and ran a seat cover with shop towels in place of the missing foam forever. Driving with this 'new' foam is a like a dream, feels like a different truck.

nah i have them all in box somewhere..in the event plan A did'nt work.
yes down here we do. i just need to keep my annaul milage under 5K;).....that way i get an excempt sticker and 'am free do as i please....

no it's the $pector header...wish i had gone with the maf one though.

wheels are oem, option wheels for the late 40's...which are the same as oem 60/62 wheels, just factory white.

Love the driver you've built! Right along the lines of my DD Brian.. .well done!

I recently threw a "quiet locker" in the rear diff of mine.... it works as advertised and I can't tell the difference on the road from it versus the LSD FWIW : ) But full traction in the rear is a nice thing to have in a rig as heavy as the J6 IMO.

explain?
i want it to have more "bite''. that's why i thought lsd. but if i could get a well mannered locker that would work as well.

Found them here and here

I pulled mine out of a krusty pig recently...so I have no affiliation with the linked vendor, just pointed to them online.

It lacks the 'clicks' of a standard ratchet locker and provides full go in the axle :D

I've heard that if a broken shaft occurs, it is hard to fix because the locker is more difficult to install but it appears straight forward to me...I've done my share of locker installs.

Overall, I like it alot. I feel like it is a major asset for when I do need traction

lacking full traction in the rear of a wagon can become a real liability quickly, JMHO:beer:

yeah, 3:7's and 33's.
FF? why not, they drop right in:bounce:
after that a 5spd and 4:11's, then i'll have no other choice but to get an H of some sort for in front of it all.:bounce2::bounce2:

FF are more for image than purpose in NA. The semi floater can handle gobs of weight and punishment just fine.
When you get a FF it will probably have 4.11 gears in it already.

this, i'm sad to admit, is pretty much it....really. the 80 has one so i thought one would look good in the other wagon. the one i have a line on, is complete, less teh rear.

subject change.....starting to feel shallow.

I am running 3.73's with the 5-speed and 2H.... gearing is about right and RPM's are about right: getting over 20 MPG in dinodiesel.... I thought about 4.11 and 33's but am not sure how it would affect my performance and MPG's. have you considered swapping the PS seat with the DS seat? or new foam and seat covers?
