Its a small world

Hey Lee, my wife is from Tacloban and we visit every year. Here's a pic of a heep replica we have over there. This pic was taken probably real close to where you live. You might see my brother in law buzzing around town in it when he can afford to put gas in it. :)

Heading over in March, we'll have to meet at Shakeys for a beer or something.....

Thanks

Johnny, Thanks for the info, now I will start checking around and see what I can find out.

Curtis, Just let me know when you are here or if you need picking up at airport or something..Haven't seen that one but that does not mean anything..If you know where it is I live just off BayBay which is off the main hwy going to airport. I've got a little SariSari store down by the beach that my brother in law runs..its mostly to help the family out as I stay busy with my rolling stock and projects,,Lee

Makes me want to move to Tacloban. My wife was born in Biliran across the bridge. I cannot stand Pasig! Pale faces around here just do not speak to each other. I have not figured out why and I have been here going on 4 years haa haa!

Rob, is that a Yamaha? Had a Harley back in the States but they wanted what a new one would cost to import it so I gave it to my son. Did your 40 come with the rack? Reminds me of one of those safari ones. How much more work you got on yours? Saw a white BJ today that makes about 6 that live here. Semper Fi....Lee

Actually Lee that bike is a Cheap Chi-com Ultima Stallion. I chopped the fenders and modifued the exhaust and changed all of the lights. Some say it looks like an 883 haa haa. Cheapest Hog I have seen around here was a Sportster with 15kms on it for 400k. I bought this bike in 2009 for 20k. The guy wanted 40k but he works for Dell Computer and his asawa says yea will will take 20. The engine is actually a Honda.. The rack on my 40? I bought it from a friend for 8K. Local made and very solid. It will hold me with no problem and I am 220 lbs. I hope we can get down that way soon. The family wants to go to Biliran to see realtives they have not seen in 5 or 6 years. Still have work on my rig such as; New gutter and seal for the top, Front knuckle seals, a little more wiring, interior work, maybe A/C, Engine oil leaks, and a new clutch and pressure plate, final body work and paint, but right now I am broke as a haint haa haa! "Airborne" Rob

The 15BE

Finally got pictures of the engine for the swap..still have no idea of what transmission is on it. I have very little knowledge of the components like transmissions etc. Would be nice if we could use this one as it's a 5 speed (that's all I know about it). If I were in the states I would go for a divorced transfer case but I don't think that is done much here. Some time this week we will figure it out..Lee

Duh forgot the pictures

Ok that's my stupid for the day here's the pic's

OK! Found your thread.
You need to swap the B engine oil pan to your 15B.
I'm not very sure if B engine oil pan will fit, but definitely 3B will fit. Try out yourself.
Your OLD 4 speed couldn't handle the job for 15B, need a H55f.:grinpimp:

The trans thats on it

Thanks, was wondering that...the guys I asked about the trans say that the one on the new engine is a 55f so now I will just find the correct oil pan. Then figure out if I can get the old transfer-case to work. From what I've been told I will need to fab a bracket for the transmission also but that's not hard...the hardest part is getting all the parts to work together...Thanks again that's a lot off my mind. Lee

From what I see from the photo, it is NOT a H55f. The casing itself tells you that is H150 series.:bang:
Even if your transfer case is working fine, it will NOT bolt up to you to the new H150 box.
Solution is to find a decent H55f. Fine spline!
What bracket is that?

Hi Lee,
I agree with Wong except that your original stock H41 will work with that engine - it is just not ideal as it has no overdrive and will force that engine to rev pretty high on the freeways. I think you will regret it if you don't put the H55 in there while you are doing the swaps.

Just make sure the H55F you get is for a 3B/13BT and not a 2F/2H/12HT or you will be swapping out the input shaft from your 4 speed and wishing you weren't.

Josh

Thanks for the response

I've got a couple of questions.
1. Johnny are these trucks rare? If so I will start looking for them to see if I can save some from the scrapers. Also looking for 25's. Don't know what I'll do when I find them I'm running out of room now. Sure would like to see them saved though..
2. Wong, Thanks for the info, will try to find a H55F, we have to get most of our stuff from Cebu or Manila as the scrapers have sent most of the scrap metal to China...Went out the other day looking for stuff and all the usual junk yards were cleaned out, its a shame because I know of several promising items that got crushed...Did find a old Defender body, thinking about getting it b4 it's gone.
3. Josh, thanks for chiming in, I guess it's unanimous I need to either use what I have or find a H55F...BTW as there are no expressways here and the top speed if your in a hurry is rarely above 100/120 kph how would the 4 speed preform? I think I've been 120 once and that was on the bike way out in the province.
Usually I don't get much over 80kph or the wife starts screaming:crybaby: Thanks all.....Lee

Dug some today will dig some more tomorrow

Ok, pulled the tranny today and found some things that are interesting.
1. The H41 I have is the same spline as the H153 (21)
2. If I want to use the 4 speed all I have to do is make a adapter from the H41 bolt pattern to the H153 bell housing.
3. you guys were absolutely correct in that the shifting on the H153 will be a PITA to convert....but it can be done.
4. Right now I am leaning to make the adapter, change the chunk to 3.7 and run 36/12.50's The H41 has a LOW 1st gear and I usually start in 2nd anyway. With the speeds that I will be running it here I think the 4 speed will suffice. I agree with everybody that said use a H55F but one's not available now and when they are they are **** expensive. I can hook the H153 to my old "B" and sell as a pair. (got somebody wants the B now)
5. Just for general information and I don't know if it apply s to all but the H153 I have has a 300mm clutch, pressure plate and flywheel and the clutch is 21 spline exactly like the H41. The only perceivable difference is the bolt pattern on the bell housing . I will post a bunch of pictures tomorrow providing we don't get another storm. Thanks much for all the input it is greatly appreciated......Pictures tomorrow......Lee:)

Ok now we are waiting on the adapter

We are now making the adapter to go from the H41 tranny to the bell housing of the H153. After all was said and done we decided this was the most economical and most practicable. I have a 4.11 rear end in the 40 and am going to run 36 inch tires. If my math is correct that will give me a final ratio of about 3.2 which will be fine on 90% of the stuff I do. The H41 has a pretty low first gear (most of the time with the B I started off in 2nd) so with the extra torque the 15B makes I believe I will be fine. If later I find I need a 5speed I will revisit the H55F option.
Here are the pictures of the stuff pulled apart so we could measure everything...PS I learned today that the application my 15B was in had a 275mm clutch (same as I had but a newer Clutch Plate) and the throw out bearing was toast. I was going to install a new one anyway. Thanks for looking..Lee

Had to order the metal

Had to order the metal from Manila to make the adapter, it finally came yesterday and is in the machine shop as we speak..15bf started and runs good..no smoke and smooth. Was surprised to see how quiet it was..may just run a 3" stainless exhaust w/o muffler. Will post more when I get the adapter back and engine mounted..Lee

Some more stuff done

Installed 70 series disc on axle..good so far but will have to run spacers I think.
