in the back of the J**P a silver BJ

I was noticing that I got a pic of the silver BJ in the back of the J**P, the word on it is one of Michael's customers wants it painted. The trouble is he does not want to spend the money to fix the rust (which is extensive). I'm hoping eventually he will want to sell it. It has the early model doors with the vent windows (which I want bad) and some other cool stuff. The truck would make a great parts truck or a restoration if you wanted to do some serious work.:wrench:

Little work accomplished

Took the tranny and trans out, got the wheels off and are over at house so when I can get time I can strip them. Had original gauges painted and air brushed as was having trouble finding the gauges I wanted in 24 volt. They are now white with black lettering as I can see them better. And the good news is the 15B is on the boat from Cebu. I will get pictures posted as soon as it slows down raining some and I can get some good ones....Lee

Rain, rain, rain, huh Lee? We have had rain here in Pasig for 4 straight days now and as always when it rains like this I get one hell of a cold Haa haa Must be coz I am a pale face lol! Jay said you pm'd him but he had nothing in 24 volts. Really want to see your rig when done. Have not done much to mine lately due to sickness and rain but I still have a lot of cosmetics to work out mostly gutter and seals and then paint. Simper Fi:beer:

Rain and cold

Rob, I must be getting acclimated, was raining today and when we went to the mall, I actually wore a jacket...Rachel (asawa) was laughing at me till about half-way through lunch she wanted to borrow it.:) Hope you get better...Lee

New Pic's

Tear-down pretty much complete, still have to do some work on inside rails and some more cleaning before paint. There is no blaster or gal dip here so all the work has to be done by hand. The engine did not make the boat from Cebu so it will be here next Saturday. Then the fun begins, thanks to a lot of folks on this forum I think we will have a good idea of what to expect putting the 15BE in. I think it is coming with the transmission and know it is out of a coaster bus. I have no idea of what kind of trans comes with it so there might be some interesting possibilities there. The wheels are a before and after shot, took almost one day to get the rusty chrome ready for paint. The red Honda I just got and thought I would show you my parts chaser, Its a Super 4 S version and other than a few PO idiot add-on's it's in good shape. You need it going down town as the traffic is horrible and parking is non-existent....enjoy the pic's comment's are appreciated..Lee

These are more pic's of the truck as it is now first two are of course the frame and the last one is the tranny and transfercase. All the rust inside will be gone but without a blaster it's gona take some time.

More of the same

Still more stuff at different angles. The tub is in good shape, you can see where we welded in some patches. If you look close you can still see some of the original freeborn red. Again thanks for all the help and interest, BTW this truck will have stainless half doors and tailgate and if they turn out nice I will be working on sending some to the states or oz for those who want them. ..Semper Fi..Lee

Haa haa Yes Lee we have one of those Parts Picker uppers here too! They are a must have around here! Still have a lot of sanding to do and then a final painting. Rattle can is my choice because some of these crazy drivers and tricycles tend to scratch paint. So I go to ACE Hardware every now and then haa haa!

Nice Bike

Rob, is that a Yamaha? Had a Harley back in the States but they wanted what a new one would cost to import it so I gave it to my son. Did your 40 come with the rack? Reminds me of one of those safari ones. How much more work you got on yours? Saw a white BJ today that makes about 6 that live here. Semper Fi....Lee

More Pictures as promised

Rain and other things have been taking president lately it seems. Had a Tropical Storm hit south of us and did some serious damage with flash flooding. We did manage to get the first coat of epoxy on the frame. The engine (15BE) finally got here today but it was raining too hard to un-crate so that's tomorrow. Finally got around to accessing the rust and the pic's show the worst Like most projects it's slow hopefully this week will show more progress.

Next deal with rust

We started dealing with the rust while the tub was still on the body but as you can expect with the tub and everything else off more reveled itself. It's nothing time, money and new metal will not take care of.
First pic is of the worst rust on the tub, second is more rust and third is of the surface rust under the PO's bondo. Hopefully this is the worst of it as looking from the inside out there is no penetration. Sorry about the soggy looking pictures but I took them in between rainstorms from the feeder bands.

Worst rust on the frame

This is the worst rust I found on the frame, we got all the rust but still some pitting. I can't decide if it needs new metal or not. It is structurally solid and the truck will not be babied as we will use it a lot in the mountains wheeling so new metal would be for looks only. Opinions please...Will try to post pictures of the new engine tomorrow....Thanks for looking ....Lee

That cool, McArthur's last wife was Jean Faircloth from Tenn. May be a realative of mine lol! Looks like you are making progress. My tub is out of square by at least 1" But with everything on it top and all I can't move it enough by my lonesome. Soooooo lol

What is it?

Johnny, on post #40 is a picture of a fire truck, I have seen several here but have not been able to find out what they are. To me, it looks something like a FJ25. I figured you or one of your friends would know. If it is, you can be sure that you can find some just laying around probably for cheap. Thanks...Lee
