1) would you be willing to request a Duplicate Title from the state of Missouri and sign over to me? I will be more than happy to pay all fees.

2) would you be willing to sign a Limited POA giving me permission to get Duplicate Title myself?

I'm open to discussion ...

I'll add that I just did the limited POA on a vehicle I bought with title issues and the previous owner was very helpful when I asked him to do the limited POA route (he was fine with duplicate title too but POA required less work for him) also POA doesn't constitute a sale, just a transfer so there is no tax for the seller. The duplicate title route is also a great option and both will only take a couple minutes to complete. I hope the issue can be resolved as easily as I was able to earlier this year.

I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly happened that you don't have a title. It sort of sounds like you are trying to do title jumping where one person bought it and resold it without titling it but the title was made out to them as the buyer. In Idaho this practice can land you in jail. I know each state does their own thing in how they issue titles and collect sales tax. Why would you buy a vehicle from somebody titled in somebody else's name? I'd be scared the guy would request a duplicate title and then want the rig back. I know a case in Wyoming where a guy bought a truck out of a junkyard and started fixing it up without going to the courthouse to secure the title and another guy tracked down the previous owner of the rig and got him to apply for a duplicate title and then he went to the first guy's house and demanded he turn it over to him with the sheriff as he had the title in hand. And these were Mud Members. I think most LC people try to do the right thing most of the time but it sort of sounds like you are asking him to break the law on your behalf by applying for duplicate title for a vehicle he sold. Or am I totally confused by all of this?

"Jumping" titles is never fun but is the norm with cheaper rigs, people flip rigs and don't want to pay the taxes but these situations happen. Really solving this one should be so simple, finding and being able to get ahold of the PO is the hardest part...

Honestly having the vehicle still in PO's name is more of a liability for the PO than helping the new owner get the title and should be motivation enough to at least get the POA's notarized just to get it out of his name(does not mean PO sold to current owner, just that current owner can apply for duplicate title himself and perfectly legal as verified by title office).

But, that's just my opinion and if I was contacted by someone I would be eager to get a sold title out of my name.

Not necessarily in all states. Some states have a release of the title form. When I sell something I fill out all the information identical to the title and send it into the state. From information in the thread it sounds like KY Hunter isn't trying to jump the title to someone else but received a jumped title that was signed incorrectly by the person he bought the cruiser from.

I believe Kentucky has that form but it still uses the wordage of "buyer" and "seller" so the PO waiving his right to sign for the transfer of title via limited POA seemed like a happy medium.

I am in no way a trying to give legal advice, just talking about options to help a mud member enjoy his truck. I don't jump titles, never have, never will, but I have received jumped ones which I transfer immediately into my name. But one was this exact situation and I was able to work with the last registered owner to get it transferred.

Not trying to stir the poo stew or anything, just trying to helput so if I'm making it worse I'm happy to leave things alone.

MY 2 CENTS..........IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IN SOME STATES (MISSISSIPPI) A BONDED TITLE IS NOT THE BEST ROUTE. ONCE A TITLE HAS BEEN BONDED, IT WILL FOREVER AND ALWAYS BE LISTED AS BONDED.

BUT IN TENNESSEE THEY DON'T HAVE BONDED TITLES SO BONDED TITLES ARE NOT AN ISSUE.

THE MORLE OF THIS STORY IS THAT KENTUCKY HAS ITS OWN LAWS WHICH ARE DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER STATE. AND IM SURE THE INFORMATION @KY Longhunter IS GETTING IS CORRECT FOR HIS STATE. THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE AZZHOLE OF A PREVIOUS OWNER.

MY SUGGESTION IS CALL SAUL.

Some states even waive the bonded title part if the vehicle is 25yrs or older. However you still need to to jump through a few hoops with title searches and certified letter to previous owner who is on the title. It's definitely a do able deal, just a pain in the arse.

Kentucky does not issue Bonded Titles, but I believe I have found a route that I can take to accomplish what I need.

I have had hurdle after hurdle with this build. One of which is that the Sheriff has to inspect an Out-of-State transfers. However, the vehicle has to be put together so to speak. It cannot be dismantled, which it was until recently.

A lot of you may ask why would I have continued with build not having title in hand. I was assured by many this was not a big deal, but I've dealt with all kinds of issues and promises that have all fallen short.

They say you live and you learn. I guess that is an understatement.

Have you looked into getting it titled by Broadway Title? I think they title it in Maine and then transfer the title to you. I think this is for lost titles, but they might have an idea on how to go about getting a title in your name.

FYI - The little clip inside the heater box is part number 87126-12050 - still available from Toyota.

For folks searching in the future, here's what 87126-12050 looks like. The pictures from Toyota websites that I found are a pixelated mess and looked to be used in later model Toyotas so I rolled the dice that @gcrump01 was right, and he was. It should work fine.

Yeah I haven't given up.

Got it started for first time in years a few months ago and trying to sort out Desmog diagram.

This weekend I went out to start it and got nothing. No power to starter, etc. Traced everything back to these fuses inline to battery.

One of connections to 15 amp inline fuse had broken at one end (see Red X).

I'm now thinking of replacing these Glass Fuses with aftermarket Blade Style Inline Fuses. Does anyone have suggestions for this style inline fuse or other?

I replaced mine this summer with some from Waytech. First time my ammeter has worked since I bought my truck.
