Moved some rocks with the bumper(s) and the wife had fun spotting. Also loving the on board air.

Makes starting a fire easier when you can blow compressed air air it.

Had my coolant reservoir crack on this trip. I bought a backup from O’reillys, but this time around I was able to order a coolant reservoir from partssouq, and a cap and line from city racer. @Racer65

The hose on the cap is a little short, and I had to cut the siphon straw a little to match the old one. Works perfectly.

I’ll top it off tomorrow and re-bleed the system.

Also picked up this nifty arb case to fit the following:

Tire deflator
Large arb tire gauge
Air compressor hose
Road flares
Winch remote
Hi lift repair kit
hi lift bumper adapter.

All fits under the drivers seat.

Just signed up for SAS 3.

Our big bend trip was great, I really like the ARB tent a lot. Very well thought out, but the one downside is the sail effect when its windy. We can deal with that. I've got two crates that can be thrown in the truck and I can rollout for camping in no time.

I'm out of most of the critical projects. I'd like to get the 4plus u bolt flip kits installed and a rear locker in. I've been looking at lockers for my 3.70 a local set of open 4.1 chunks or maybe send my extra 38mm splitcase back to him for 3:1 gears. That would do everything I needed for the trails I've tried in CO.

Aside from this upcoming 20" light bar, a possible cruiser crap console and seat foams...it's basically back to change the oil and drive it.

Nice rig. Just signed up for SAS3. Several of us will be trucking out of Dallas. We meet up in Amarillo for the night. We meet up with several other TXns from Austin/San Antonio. Looking forward to meeting more of us from TX.

I'll be there.

More of our trip. I’m happy to even have a place like BBNP in my state.

Glad to hear you signed up for SAS3. I’m looking forward to seeing the rig in person.

If you had to choose between sliders and a flip kit, I’d recommend that you take a look into the sliders before the flip kit.

I have to finish my 3:1 gears on my transfer case and do the h55 swap. I think this combo is going to be be perfect for the 12ft thin air and 2F.

I'll see you guys there!

Hey Alex, I see a combo of metal and plastic jerry cans. Which for which?

Red are metal for fuel. One has a nice nato style metal cap and the other has a gas station special cap that tore circumfrentially and almost leaked on my truck. 10 gallons was a good amount and it got me out of the park to the next town over when the local station ran out.

The beige are water jugs from grainger that I got for $26 each. A great deal and they worked perfectly. You can find the posting in the camping section about them.

They suggest bringing several gallons to big bend per person per day due to the the fact that it is a desert. I had 20 total and I’m glad I brought what I did. I couldn’t imagine how quickly it would be used in the summer.

I purchased a set of the Koito H4 Headlights to replace a cracked Hella. I'll leave my ARB harness in place and just use the bulbs and housings.

I also ordered a 20" no name light bar and harness to put above the fair lead on the bumper. I was looking at PIAA, KC etc and they're all made in china anyway. That will be installed by this weekend.

Next up, a quality roof rack to replace all this Yakima stuff I've got. Bowfin Cruisers looks like its winning.

Very cool stuff going on there. I want to check out that tent next time you have it on. I wish I could get my wife to buy into what you are doing. She isn’t a camper.

She might be after hanging out in a rooftop tent. It was a game changer for my wife and I. I'm a total heathen and could sleep in the shell of my Tacoma, which I did, but she hated it. Got a tent, and she's much more eager to go.

Basically that. We both have no camping experience before car camping in the back of the truck. It was hard on us.

I sprang for the Cadillac experience this time around and let her know that this was our minimum standard. She saw how we were weary, dry and safe the whole time and loved it. I won’t tell her how much i spent.

Alex - did you end up doing the Bluetooth voltage monitor? And if so any feedback on that one?

It’s working great actually. It syncs quickly, doesn’t have any glitches and really gives me insight into what the charging system is doing.

The main thing that it told me is that the gauge is wrong on the dash. No big surprises there.

12v on the gauge is really 13.1v. So my charging system wasn’t as unhealthy as I thought. Even with the arb air compressor running at a 690rpm idle, it’s still a strong system. It holds a stready voltage and doesn’t discharge. I will likely have it running more when I winch and install the extra wiring for the 2nd battery. I’ll buy another instead of running a fancy monitoring system. If that one does, I’ll move the main battery monitor onto that.

A really good $30 spent. Almost as good as my little motorcycle temp gauge.
