I made some good progress this afternoon. I pulled the steering column, steering box and pedal hanger. I also had to cut out most of the body mount bolts which was a pita. The plan is to pull the body Thursday afternoon. Hopefully I can get the motor pulled Friday.
Has anybody used por15 to treat their frame? If so did you media blast your frame to prep it?
Has anybody blasted their whole body and frame? I am trying to decide wether i would be better off to buy a sand blaster and do it all myself or just pay somebody to it.

Also if anybody needs the old pita style steering I would be willing to part with all the major components.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to get a quote from a commercial blaster. If you can swing it, it sure is nice to drop rusty parts off and pick them up all clean the next day.

Well I got the body pulled this afternoon with help from a buddy. I discover the drivers rocker ended up havin a bit of bondo in it and needs replacing.

I've haven't made much progress lately. I've been mainly been taking the hinges and other small parts off to prep for sand blasting. What is reasonable price to have all the body blasted? I had one local guy give me an estimate at 1300 to dustless blast and prime everything.
I'm hoping to get the bad engine pulled this week and swap the other one in. This will be the first engine I've pulled so does Anybody have any suggestions or things I shouldn't do.

I had to make some room in the shop today so I could pull the engine and trans. I wrestled my 16 foot trailer and the tub for about an hour but eventually got it loaded. Once I got the the tub and the body parts out I started working on pulling the engine and trans. I got the motor and trans pretty easily.

Just a little update. I took the tub and most of the other body parts to get blasted. I'm starting to think I want to go the resto-mod rather than a stock restoration. Im thinking I would like to drop a mercedes om606 turbo diesel adapted to a h41 with a stock tcase along with a 3.7 r&p. Overall I want to achieve a realatively stock looking cruiser on a mild lift with a Diesel engine that will achieve decent fuel economy. I've seen a few 606 swaps, a fj60 I believe, a jeep jk, and a jeep Cherokee. Most of the swaps I've seen have pulled the electronic injection pump in favor of an earlier all mechanical pump that is more upgradable.
Some literature:

The Mercruiser, 87FJ60 with a OM606
Ford F-250 With A Mercedes Diesel Inline-six

Not much progress on the 40 to report. I did get my big lift hooked up and work so that should make lift a little bit easier in the future. Also scored a new to me brake booster out of 91 mini truck at my local junk yard. I was surprised to find one this clean.

Got a little bit done yesterday. I finished pulling the fender and front end off the red one to prep to pull its engine. I eventually got the engine pulled. I came out a little bit unlevel and started leaking oil out the back. I'm really sure if should be concerned about that. In other news we got a new puppy. I think he may have a future as a shop dog.

Edit: not really sure why the pictures aren't showing up anymore but there's a link to my Flickr

I went and picked up 77 fj40 this afternoon. I was planning on robbing it's running gear but the body is in better shape than I expected. I might just end up selling the the body to somebody. So if you need a tub for pretty cheap let me know.

I've moved off the diesel swap idea for this particular cruiser. Instead I'm going to continue on with a pure as possible resto. Will get some updated pictures up soon.

Got quoted 250$ to do two layers of powder coat on the frame today by Prattville powder coating. From what I've read that seems pretty reasonable.

where did the old landrover come from?
England i guess. It's been in my family for almost as long as I have. And another cool fact is that one of the POs was Steve Bartcowski the old Falcons QB.
