I like it high up, I would disconnect the OEM blinkers and plastidip that whole area. The ARB blocks the OEM stuff anyways. I've got something to fill in the emptiness. im also a big loser!!!!!!!!!

i actually am beginning to like it on mid level. Bottom level looks AWESOME on a 60, but idk, i dont really like being able to see only a fraction of the original blinker. I wish the top hoop was just a little lower so that it didnt look that high.
Im not plastidipping the the original blinker though haha, thats stuff isnt currency in the 60 section like in your neck of the woods lol!! And i dont want YOUR winch, it'll drain my battery for sure haha.

Is it just me or is your bumper bigger than older models? Maybe it's just the camera angle?

i think its bigger that the 1st gen ARB? ive never seen one in person.. if thats what your talking about?

1st gen ARB bumpers look puny compared to the newer ones. Especially the bottom. These are mounted higher and have slightly different proportions.

I like the newer one better. The old one looks like a snowplow almost when you compare them.

Any way though. Yep.

Yeah that's what I meant. Since the new one is bigger (and therefor, I assume, better), I wonder if it will lower demand for used 1st gen, which would mean lower prices for used bumpers? :hhmm:

The new one isnt exactly new... it came out 5+ years ago so yeah just look back on some old classified adds and see how cheap they are now i guess?

If it helps your research, I saw a tweaked 1st gen ARB on ebay a couple months ago for like $350. A ripoff for a useless bumper, but thats what you come to expect form the seller... a certain Atlantan shop owner (not talking about ACC, they are fantastic) that i will NEVER give any more money to.

I didn't realize it was out for so long, I never looked closely at the one on ARB's website. I just now looked at a zoomed in picture, way cool

Now I want one even more

Got my kit a couple weeks ago from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters (THANKS KURT, great product, great service!) and i finally started it a couple days ago. Well I finished installing everything a few hrs ago and i have to say, i was nervous about it beforehand for no reason. To anyone planning this job, its EASY, I promise, and im no master mechanic. The hardest, most time consuming part, besides waiting for paint to dry, was pounding the trunnion bearing race into the bottom of the knuckle.

So before i started, this was the deepest i had ever been in the axle (right behind the manual hub body)

Ankur already getting messy.

So after removing the rotor, you find this dirty dust shield with a little metal ring thing in front.

It took me a little while to figure out that i needed to take these stupid little pins off the brake line before i could get the dust shield out of the way.
(Anyone know what this circular one in the first pic is called? My herculean strength snapped it in half on accident...)

Guess what happens when you hit this spindle...

...It barfs up a nasty mixture of grease and diff fluid, duh..

Bare knuckle sort of cleaned up.

Aidan, my younger brother, in our "painting booth".

That damn bearing race acting like a little bitch not wanting to go home.

Knuckle Housing painted and installed, steering arm connected, ready for the axle to be packed and slammed into that bitch.

During this time we decided to try and figure out how to change brake pads. so we took all the springs/pins out swapped in the new pads and got it all ready to put back on... until we realized that the side spring retainer thing had snapped right near the bottom... I thought, "this one stupid little piece of metal has stopped my entire operation :frown:... until Aidan found this piece of wire in the barn.

5 minutes later...

YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was actually a little surprised Aidan would have been able to bend it exactly right like that.

The barn, its a little dark and dirty: full of spiders, mice, bats, cave crickets, etc. But its gonna be where we work on the cruiser from now on cuz its PERFECT!!

(dont mind the jeep, i was young...)

"Almost" finished product.

Im going to go back over and sand/paint the entire axle housing to finish it off to make it look as good as the knuckles.

Id like to thank Ankur for coming out for a few hrs to lend a hand, Asher for answering my questions, and Middle Mike (from ACC) for for answering my REALLY dumb questions. Y'all are pretty decent folks.

Looking good. And it's a job you shouldn't have to do again for 23 or 24 years.

Thanks Mike! I am a little disappointed though. Im glad I did something myself, but If y'all did the rebuild, I could've gotten smoking gun to powder coat the knuckles all wood grain lol!

I wish I'd painted my knuckles. They are clean but look like &^%$.

That thing is looking sweeeet.

Thank you sir! Everything in the front end is covered in like 5mm of the crustiest, gunkiest, soggiest, muddiest, power steering fluidiest sludge I've ever seen. so I when I planned the rebuild, I made sure plan to also try and clean things up a bit. And it was worth it, when I was wire wheeling the steering arms, knuckle housing, calipers, and dust shield I found little hidden TEQ symbols, and raised letter/writing that I didn't even know was there. It was pretty cool!

That knuckle looks great! Makes me want to do this job on my truck.

Im thinking I might tackle this job sometime this winter when I won't be using my 60 as much. I just wish I had a garage or barn like you to do it in!

When I put the ARB on the 100, the reaction of other drivers changed dramatically...if I nudge out in traffic both lanes stop. Do you notice any difference to how others react when they see the ARB poking out? I haven't seen a ARB on a 60, but it makes the 100 look like a destroyer ship.

Thanks Darrell. Yeah the barn is sweet, I've just never wanted to really do the work and clean it out. When my grandfather was alive, it was spotless, if he noticed a mouse or rat in there, it would be taken care of immediately, but over the last 10 years it's just sort of been taken over by by spiders. There also used to be power plugs and plenty of overhead lighting in there because do to it being his workshop, but when us kids got old enough to start dicking around in there, he cut the power cords so we didn't burn down the world. Hopefully, sometime this summer or Fall, I can get a small group of guys to help clean it out in exchange for being able to use it to work on their cruiser...

Lol yeah, in the first highway test drive to make sure it didn't just sort of fall off, i got cut off by some a****** getting back on from the shoulder. But I think getting rammed up the ass by my truck was just his way saying he wanted a closer look at my bumper...

Since then, people have been pretty good to get out of my way, but thats sort of a catch 22. I used to like following slow people on the highway so I didnt look like im the jackass holding everyone up lol!

Knuckles and ARB looking good! Now go :steer: into some mud and make them look like they should!

Thanks RJ. I'm sort of dreading getting these things dirty haha. Hopefully this weekend we can get up to north ga and have some fun though!

A little rain this weekend will go a long way to making those knuckles look like they should!

Finally got rid of this homosexual spagetti.

And stashed the relay box in its place.

I believe i can tear out the vac sphere as well, but i need some plugs before i do. (left side, 2nd photo)
