This is a build thread, not yalls personal IM... and you wonder why i dont like updating anymore

WTF happened here? Patrick - I think you can safely delete the last 4-5 posts (including this one) and get the thread back OT. And keep posting - I read up on the build.

To stay on topic:
How do you manage to get a lower rent ? :D
On this side of the planet all and everything that has a pricetag rises, even the sun rises every morning...

Ordered a little something from ARB last night. Hopefully it'll be here in the next week or so!

Our definition of "little" must be different.

Thanks Cody Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Little like an air locker, or "little" like a bumper, rack, etc?

Well, it looks like ARB is slightly backed up so i won't get my order in until the middle of next month (if everything goes right). In the mean time i ordered a knuckle rebuild kit from Kurt and plan on getting started on that at the beginning of July when i get back from the Florida, soooo... DONT MAKE FUN OF THE SUNBURN I WILL INEVITABLY HAVE IN MY REBUILD WRITEUP PHOTOS :flipoff2:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ill be replacing brake pads and wheel studs during the rebuild as well as painting the axle and knuckle parts to make it look nice and pretty.

Besides using my brand new FSM, these are a few resources ive found that sort of "outline" the procedure:

wish me luck

Good luck pal, I'll be following along as I have yet to do mine. Put it into layman's terms for me would ya?

Sure thing Danny, it will be written for the masses...
"Unscrew this, grease the fxxx out of that, stick this thing up in there like so, etc etc."

And ill make sure to post lots of pics of the process for those of us who like visuals... or cant read.

Now would be a good time to upgrade your front axle, if you're so inclined. It kinda sucks to tear it all apart, only to develop the dreaded clicking birfields sometime afterwards.

yeah I dont think ill just keep the original birfs at this time. I believe they'll be alright. The great Jeremy Clarkson once said, "If you believe something will happen, it WILL happen." So i have nothing to worry about...

Good. I can't read.

Dont worry Ankur, you're to take a few days off work so you can be present
And if anything goes wrong, I'm sure you'll just let me snag a replacement off your truck, right buddy ol' pal

Suburban's.... I hate them...

I've had to drive one all week since I sold my MR2 and found out that the mysterious electrical issues my 60 was having were caused by ANOTHER dead alternator.... Everyone was right... the alternators from the corner parts shops are s***.

Did you tackle this yet? If you haven't, I'd highly recommend getting about twice the shop towels you think you'll need and head to the carwash first to give the front end a good cleaning. I think it was all the cleaning that made me take as long as I did.

Good luck

Nope i havent been able to get around to doing this job yet. Im hoping for some time this weekend but its supposed to be really rainy and my garage is too crowded for work like that. i got a bunch of shop towels from costco a couple weeks ago in preparation, but after getting a little "hands on"axle practice on a truck at ACC, i figured im gonna need 2x if not more towels and grease haha. And good thinking on the car wash, ive been bathing everything up front in PB blaster recently and getting it clean would definitely make things easier.

4wheelparts came through for me and got me my ARB package two weeks sooner than expected. Dont know why people dont like that store, but I LOVE that place!

Sorry for the graint phone pics, they are s***t.

Whats in the box???

BULLBAR!!!!!!!!!!

After not reading any of the directions, i began cutting these frame rail "wing" things off for no reason. And since it was taking so long to drill the rivets out, in my head that was reason enough to go out and buy a brand new sawzall :D

Its onnnnn! After bringing that sawzall into play, it was

On to the bumper lights... Since i am to Nikola Tesla what cold cut turkey is to filet mignon, i immediately got down on my knees and prayed to the electrical Gods. Just seconds before i ritually sacrificed my brother to win their favor, i remembered Nick (2000UZJ) could probably help me for a much cheaper price.
So here is the correct way to wire the bumper for blinker use.

I AM GOD!!!!!!!!!! Look at those lights working and s*** like they're supposed to

Nicks gift for helping me and only sort of making me feel like an idiot

More poser shots from today.

SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!
I cant decide whether i like the ARB where it is (middle height) or the lowest setting... ill probably fool around with it some more in the next few days when i repaint my grill.

More fun little projects to do in the very near future...
-Erik's ultimate headlight harness
-that axle rebuild
-wheel cylinder replacement
-maybe some other good stuff :hhmm:

So everyone have a happy 4th and stay safe :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:
