Holy Crap! Do you think you'll be able to get it done in time now? I hope so bro... I know you've been busting your ass on that truck.

Im hoping so...It really depends on how fast my local GM dealer deals with it...I called Jegs and they said that everyone in the past asked for a new motor from GM and they only will fix them...Im gonna go in there and be like look...I am a highschooler, on a highschool budget...I spent alot of my own money on buying a new motor....I could of bought a rebuilt one for half the cost but there are obvious reasons why I didnt do that...Im going to college and dont have time to take in a rebuilt motor if it ever gives me problems down the line....that is why I spent twice the money on a new motor....Especially since I have never fired it, I would greatly apprpetiate it if you would just replace my motor instead of fixing it...

at that point if they dont agree or say "we'll see wat we can do" then thats about the time I lose it and go ballistic.

If I can get the motor back within no longer than a week and a half, I can still meet my painters deadline. If not then Im definately screwed.

I think that to make up for lost time we are going to put on the tub and continue like the motor is still in, and then when time comes to drop in the motor and tranny we will connect them on the ground and then feed the tranny through the engine bay and then be done with the whole project ready for paint.

Started to put the tub on today...My camera's batteries died within the first 30 min. We got everything lined up and drilled, and bolted it down. Now that everything looks about right, I will go back, undo the bolts, put the sikaflex (stuff that goes imbetween the steel and alum.) and seal it all for good.

Thanks Hugh, Im going to finish it up today so ill get some pics posted up.

The supervisor at Jegs said that if they get the motor, and it seems like it came messed up from the factory, and is all clean and stuff, then they will replace it with a new one. He is going to call me back when they have a date that a shipping company will come and pick it up.

Man, what a nightmare. You are right in seeking a total replacement, don't budge there.

Things are looking great man, keep it up, keep moving on what you can, we are pulling for you.

Rezarf <><

I'd note the block# to insure they don't give you the same one back.

can not wait to see how that thing fits... can you show some close up pics of the seams when you get them finished...

That will be tonight...just finishing bolting it all down.

Yea very good point. Thanks for the tip.

At least that sounds like good news.

The tub is on!
I went and picked up my seats also, and set them on wood blocks so I could determine the proper height.

sorry to hear of your engine problems. Just some tips when dealing with these asshats. If they try to pull any s&*t on you, tell them you will get the BBB involved (better business bureau) as well as the BAR (beaurea of automotive repair). Did you purchase the motor on a credit card? If so, there is a big benefit there. Tell them you will contest the charges with your card company. All of these things companies don't like to deal with and sometimes just the mention of them will get them to settle things the way you want it done, not the way that is best for them. Don't be the nice guy, tell them how it is going to be.

good luck,

Noah

Thanks Noah, I got a call from the supervisor several min ago, and he said that they would take it back and replace it, if I had everything it came with....obviously no problem there, but then he was like, oh and one the things that we need back is the origional box it came in...WELL it came in a wood frame i.e, a bunch of 2x4 built in a square around it...so obviously we tore it up trying to get it out, and threw the scrap away...so I told him that most likely it was gone, but I would look anyway...I asked if i could just build or pay for a new box for it, and he said no, it comes with special numbers on it....YEA RIGHT. I took off any tags I saw...only one , a green one. and that was it. So im gonna call him back and be like WTF...Im also gonna read him the engine vin number, so that he knows that I know it so he doesnt jack with me and send the same one back.

Thanks for the advice, if it comes down to it, Ill whip out the credit card thingy.

before you make an A$$ of yourself with the CC thing as to contest a charge that the product is not what you paid for might intail you going to court... most CC companies will honor the vendor as long as they can prove you got the product and signed for it.... by contesting mostly likley will delay them getting funds or may tie them up for a while ( a major PITA) but I dont think you will win the contention in the end... just somthing to keep in mind... but weather that guy will know the ins and outs who knows...

Well let's hope he has an honorable CC company if it comes to that...As far as I am concerned receiving a product and signing for it does not imply a completed transaction when the said product turns out to be crap. I don't get the impression we are talking more than a few months here from purchase to attempted start of the engine. A good CC company will/should battle for their customer if the customer has ample justification for their claim.

From what I have gathered JEG'S sold a bum engine and needs to make good on the sale...Now the 'stupervisor' is going to play hardball demanding the engine be "boxed back up"? This isn't a spark plug or gauge...It is an engine in a crate for a build up. Is the guy serious that he thinks the customer kept the crate just for the hell of it?

Eli, I wish you luck on this ordeal...Try the nice approach and see where it takes you. The last thing you need is to be paying to crate back up the engine and ship it back on your dime when you didn't get a working product in the first place. It always amazes me that some companies expect a consumer to send the broken crap back to them on the consumer's dime so the product can be replaced. Why should you incur more cost to get what you ordered? You might have to just to resolve the issue but that is crap IMO.

Tell the stupervisor to take some responsibility for what they sold...

Thanks Corsair

Alrite so Im to the point where I could Rhino Line (except a cheap off brand) the inside of my tub...which has been my plan the whole time, for durability and noise reduction...Before I start I thought I would just ask what you guys think about it.

Would you line it?
