How will the Aqualu Tub (aluminum)be connectedot the clip (metal)? Just cusious.

I was just going to ask the same question dont you have to cut that closer to the coul to make the alum. body work?

Yes. I cut it with ample room to spare, so that I could make the precise cut once it was bolted up to the frame. That way everything lines up correctly, rather than doing it b4 it was bolted up, and finding out that one of my doors wont shut because it was off by several cm.

Essentially it just bolts up where the factory welds are at the jamb. First you apply this stuff that aqualu gives you that goes imbetween the alum. and the origional steel, so that they dont cause problems by touching eachother.

It would appear that I am about 1 and a half weeks away from mating up the tub, and when I do it ill make sure to document it really well.

like I said before I am going to do this on mine so I am really waiting to see how this turns out for you... I did cut mine already so hope it is on as far as size.. do you think you are going to paint your body before you put it all together? Did you have to do any body work the the tub after it came or was it straight?

Eli

So there is an overlap and they bolt together then? Will be interesting to see.

An update.
I graduated highschool, so now I can dedicate all of my time to working on the cruiser. Things are starting to look good again.

I had a very productive first day away from classes. Today I pulled out my very rusty brake booster, master cyl. etc. and ground everything down to bare metal. As you can see there was a little hitch along the way when my hands got in the way, but things kept moving. After it was down to bare metal, then I put a clear coat over the master cyl. (so it would retain the shine of bare metal without getting rusty) and then painted the main portion black.

Lookin' good!.......Wait thats a understatement, lookin' great!

Thanks for the feedback.

Hugh, I passed the idea on to santa. lol

Alright with all this time on my hands I figure I should atleast start posting more frequently.

Today the steering assembly was completed. Everything ditry was ground down and a fresh coat of something...whether hightemp clearcoat, or black, was applied.

My super hightech armstrong steering box was put back into place, refinished, and attached to the steering column.

The Extreme Duty 4+ tie rod, and relay rod, (from MAF) were put in accompanied by a new box of tie rod ends.

Looks kinda goofy with the yellow OME shock....

Tmrow is the big day for starting the wiring.

More pics.

We got our first snow of the season...but who says grinding in the snow isnt fun?

Great job. Coming along nicely.
One question: should there be jam nuts on those rod ends?

Yea there should be....The tie rod has its allready on, but because of the clutter in my garage, I cant seem to find the ones for the relay rod. Since its not going to be going anywere ill just put em on when I come accross them.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

cool. Again, great job, thanks for all the updates and details.

AHHHHHHH so a friend of my moms came over for the last 2 days and helped me with the wiring. It is now 3/4 of the way done...but still very confusing....
