thanks hugh, yea after a few more talks with the jegs supervisor, this is what we came to- I put a new motor on my card, then once it gets here, I carefully remove it from the box, once that happens, I put the old motor in the new box and send it back, as soon as they recieve it then they refund my card. This way I get the new motor fast. It should be here on monday. :D

Hey wats up man, I also go to school in Santa Barbara (UCSB). Great job on the buildup, I wish I had the money to build it up like yours. We should def. go wheeling when you come to school. I have a 76 FJ40. Hit me up on mud when you get out here and I can show you around the local trails.

Def man, sounds good. I should be down there in march- so ill PM you when I get there.

before you make an A$$ of yourself with the CC thing as to contest a charge that the product is not what you paid for might intail you going to court... most CC companies will honor the vendor as long as they can prove you got the product and signed for it.... by contesting mostly likley will delay them getting funds or may tie them up for a while ( a major PITA) but I dont think you will win the contention in the end... just somthing to keep in mind... but weather that guy will know the ins and outs who knows... I am a controller at a golf resort and when ever someone uses that line on me I laugh at them as long as I have something signed...

How is he making an ass out of himself?? He did not get what he paid for, period! So, therefore he should not have to pay for it. The credit card company will see things your way, trust me. I have contested charges several times and it has always come out in my favor, mainly because I was the one whom did not receive what I paid for and was in the right. You are wrong with saying they will honor the product if it got signed for. If the product is broken, not working, etc they will side with the customer. Again, if you don't get what you paid for, it is not your responsibility to pay. This is why I always use a credit card when ordering high ticket items. Of course, try being the nice guy first, but if doesn't work pull out the big guns and motivate them to make s*** happen.

it is not always that easy, I can see them coming up with a million reasons why this is his fault and not theres... just was saying dont use it as your first card... save it and play it if needed.. that is all...

Just want to say "Lookin' good!"

Hopefully I'll be starting on my '72 in the next month or so, and have definitely gotten some encouragement from your thread.

Okay, back to lurking...

Look forward to seeing your buildup thread.

The engine situation has been resolved....or atleast in te process...They insisted on needing "their" crate to ship it in...so what we decided on is- I put a new motor on my card....they ship it to me (gets here monday) then once it arrives I take it out and ship the old one back in the crate the new one comes in, and send it back...as soon as they recieve the old one they refund my card...also they are paying for shipping both ways.

Pretty soon here im gonna be asking you all the million dollar question....to review the buildup and tell me what you think its worth...but not yet.

Thanks for all the supportive comments.

I prepared a final checklist, of everything that I will need to have completed, in order to drive her once the engine is in.

absolutely not!....I was just curious...

ACTUALLY I have been eyeing a totally stock FJ40 looks to be about a 78...low amount of rust....havent looked at it too much, but I would love to do a real resto and flip it....I havent been able to get ahold of the owners yet.

This one is gonna stay for a long time.

I'm with you guys, my first cruiser and its staying with me for life. But I gotta tell ya good work keep it up. Just don't rush like me and my friend did with his FJ40, he's now regretting it.

Hey, first off the cruiser is coming along great.

Just wondering if your motor came in today? I hope it did so you can get that thing ready before you have to go to UCSB. I'm at Cal Poly about an hour north of SB and theres pismo just south of me. It's a fun place to go and wheel on the beach. Anyway good luck on the rig, Im really pulling for you.
