I started last oct. I was looking for a jeep when I stumbled across this 40. I bought 3 40's for 800.00 one was a complete 75 , one a 69 that was just a cowel and running gear. the third was a 73 with just the tub , cowel frame and axles. I parted all three and built one. two of the three orioginaly resided in virginia and the budies and frame were a total loss. the 73 was a arizona cruiser and the tub and frame were spotless. At first I wanted to restore the 75 . After realizing the extreme cost of a resto I decided to go with a hard core crawler.

I have future plans in the works for a sm465 , toybox , d60 front w/ 3 link and a 14 bolt rear w/ 4 link . That is sometime after the first year of enjoting my build.
The toy box will be done bfore gsmiter trip in may of 2009.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I have enjoted the build.

nice job

Nice Job,

Seats look comfy

looks like you got some helpers eh

You anywhere near FWB?

Thats where I am, My build is Ugly Betty a 71--keep meaning to go see the NWF Cruisers but every spare minute is gone on the resto

haha love that last shot.

Nice buildup thread... !!

On your paint, is that rustoleum hunter green? Did you just buy the can, add mineral spirits and shoot it? I'm liking the paint, and I'm thinking about rattle canning with hunter green.

Did you use epoxy primer? Or rustoleum primer? I've been having bad luck with the rustoleum primer and the rustoleum sticking to it, even with wetsanding.

Nice drawer system. Can't wait to see everything finished.

No it is not rusto. I used 2 qt of slick sand for the primer (Awesome high build sanding primer)
And 2 qt of valspar polythane )Rustic green 041 paint code or a11 I cannot remember). (Similar to emeron by ppg) Super strong and affordable.
The black is also polythane.

Thanks all for the interest.

you need bigger tires

I am in between 35 krawlers or 37 mtr . More then likely the mtr cause my boss has his hand into a tire shop that sells goodyear.

nice slider design. I like the way you cut out the rocker to incorporate the tube. Madkes for a nice clean , flat surface. Well done. Put them kids to work! Great lookin family too.

cheers!!
