Interesting, I’ve always thought POR only stuck to rust for rust
Oh man. My tailgate needs the entire bottom to be done like that. It is rusting a bunch. Wow. Hats off to you. I can't do half of what you are doing with that 60.
Looks amazing.
Thanks, you’d be surprised what you can do with an angle grinder and a mig welder!

Still ironing out the last little details. After the rad fan fuse replacement I still wasn’t getting good voltage, so i dig into the wiring, discovered the alternator charge wire had all kinds of splits and accessories wired to it so I replaced it with a new wire that came with my wire harness and cleaned up all the other misc wires. Now it sits at 13.2 Volts with the fan and headlights on (was at 10.8 before). Pretty incredible the difference it made.

Also, the hydraulic throw out bearing had a huge seal failure, so I got an oem Chevy one and will be pulling the transmission this weekend.

The nv4500 I have was missing spacers on the shift lever base, which loosened and leaked gear oil on my carpet. I took out the carpet and washed it. The new bushing/spacer kit fixed the issue, and the shifting feel is much better now. I also got a Dakota digital box to make the tach accurate for the v8. Ran into more wiring gremlins so next up will likely be replacing the whole wiring harness.

New water pump and power steering pump. Waiting on power steering parts and decided to finish up my door panels. The glue had a reaction with the vinyl and I pooped my pants but it relaxed after some time. Strange.

In a wild turn of events, I found this nearly perfect 60 body in Iowa with no title and almost all the body panels and doors, so my plan is to build a pristine mall crawler and use the left overs to turn the rust bucket into a trail beater. I dragged it down to texas to save it from snow with the ole green goblin. I’ve got the original drive train except a t-case (350, ranger overdrive and stock 4 speed).

Pulled the transmission to have it rebuilt. The last picture shows a built in leak point in the AA adapter for the NV4500 so going to try and seal that up this time.

Man on the last nv4500 i plugged that hole with a FIPG'ed pipe plug and there still seems to be a mysterious leak somewhere from it
So far ive tried lots of rtv but it never seems to work. I think maybe running a longer bolt with a high crown cap nut with a crush washer on the back. Something like this. M8-1.25 Acorn Cap Nuts, 304 Stainless Acorn Nuts, 25Pcs-Pack https://a.co/d/6COR67U

The pipe plug works really well. Its NPT thread, or at least should be. I had to use a tap on mine to cut the threads. When i split the adapter to look for the leak, that hole was bone dry on mine

Just finished reading this entire thread. Awesome work! Just got my welding setup to begin rust repairs on my rig. I'm also in the Houston area and you're welcome to swing by and critique me, haha.
