Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

A truck popped up in my area, and I might be interested in it for the wife.

2006 Grey LX470 with 165k miles
1 owner FL owned since new
Extensive service records from dealer only (TB and WP at ~80k, rear main seal replaced recently, alternator replaced etc.)
seller won't budge from the asking price of 18k...thoughts? Considering the current market, is 18k a deal or nothing special?
Buy it ! ! !

Hi all, I'm new to the Overland scene. I was looking at getting a used 4runner and came across a 1999 LX470. It's in California and has the following: Triple Locked /E-lockers
Differential swap(4pin)
Metaltech rear links(all)/sliders, SPC UCAs, new CV axles, bushings, Addicted OFFROAD, Baja Designs, (5)Nitto Tires 35x12.5x17, (5)Weld Forged Wheels, Cerullo Seat Covers
Maintenance records available(Majors done)

The tires have about a year of thread left.

Also included: Smittybilt XL overland RTT + annex and ICECO VL60 w/slider.

254k mi. Asking price: $17.4

Clean interior, minor cosmetic issues on the body, broken folding mirror mechanisms.

Im planning to use this for a family of five and for the trails. I would be the fourth owner. The current owner is super cool and I can tell he has pride in the vehicle he made because he wants to sell it to an owner who will use it for what it's made for. He's even reluctant to sell it and wouldn't mind holding it for another year.

I have never purchased a vehicle this old with over 100k mi on it. I was taught that vehicles over 100k will have issues and to stay away. The owner has reassured me that the Engine is known to go 500k and he can produce the maintenance records. No accidents.

Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Get a look/verify the maintenance records that the "majors" are complete, at 254K it should be a file. Get him to deploy the RTT and annex to see if you want to go through that a$$ pain of using it or just lugging it around. Negotiation in price with or w/o the RTT would be there. Is it needing a rear bumper? The pic looks like it is missing? If it needs one, another bargaining tool for safety inspection.

Buy it before he changes his mind...

Thanks! Yah I'll check the records and definitely have him deploy the RTT. The rear bumper is off at the moment but he has it and it's in good condition.

That is one heck of an entry into the 100 series. I wouldn't know where to begin with all those mods

Agreed, if done correctly and found to not be lipstick on a pig, you've got a great opportunity.

I plan to take a mechanic with me and do a test drive. If everything checks out, do you guys think his asking price of $17.4 is fair? If I negotiate to $16 or $16.5 is that a slap in the face? He said if he includes the Smittybilt XL overland RTT + annex and ICECO VL60 w/slider it would have to be close to asking price.

Always keep in mind, the price is Your agreement to pay what You think it's worth to You. That determination is on You mate. Everyone here knows Supply drives price when the demand signal is sounding. Today, if the seller is smart, may be playing his cards close to his vest as to how many people are in line if you decide the price is too steep. Many hopes are dashed by being too late. Take up the slack on your trigger mate...

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. Hopefully, I'll be an owner of a fine vehicle shortly!

Echoing this. One of the dangers of becoming an 'expert' on market value is... becoming an expert on market value. There's a shift underway with people getting hip to the fact that they aren't making any more of these: the pool of available vehicles that aren't rusted out shrink daily.

The days of 'waiting for the next one' over $500-$1500 are gone.

Hi Everyone,
Any ideas what this is worth?
280K on the clock
3 owners
New timing belt
New Battery, CV Axels and tires. Old Man EMU 3” suspension lift. After market front and rear bumpers. All interior power works like it should. No check engine lights

Desert bronze. I think they only made 10 of that color, better buy it! Maybe between 10-14k, hard to tell with this market.

My first TLC was that color. It's a gorgeous paint job that pictures never do justice.

Thanks gents I'm on it !
I just picked up one similar, '99 in the desert bronze metallic w/locker 230k OME lift, paid $10k with a rebuilt title. So I think a fair offer for that one would be $12k-ish give or take

I am gonna be selling my 2000 UZJ soon, glad to see the prices are going in a good direction. Mine has a few flaws, but it's a 21 year old truck that was used like a truck...so I am not looking to get top dollar or anything. It has had all the maintenance, and some new parts put on it, but at 315k and it runs like a champ. I am hoping to get 7-8k out of it... but we shall see if these prices hold.

Thoughts on 07 LC with 70k miles. Loaded but want 34k. Extremely mint no rust and one owner with all service records. Grab it?
Sounds like a really good one. Good to have an in or you got lucky which helps. It’s all the money in my opinion(prices are on the climb though). I’d say this depends on what you’re doing with the truck. If you are buying it for you and it checks every box go for it. Especially if it’s a desirable color combo. Beats 85k for a new 200 and people like the 06-07. Let us know when you get it. I’d be curious.

If you have the dough, go for it @rrdouleh, prices are only going up on these 💯 unicorns. Did you find it in RI? Must have been one of those garage kept Westerly/Watch Hill family trucksters...;) Great find if she is as good as you say. Offer them $29K and see what happens.
