The new body and is looking great Johnny. Even through the pictures it's obvious you're putting in quality time. Soon you'll have an almost new-ish truck... but the soul of her former self lives on. Good luck with the body swap and be safe.

Thanks Chris! Moonshine has received tons of time ( and money ) this year. I'm calling the rebuild my graduation present to myself. Even though it's expensive to build ( rebuild ) a truck from the ground up, it's still cheaper than buying a new car!

I'll feel your pain when you get the first scratch or ding on that new body when it sees its first off road mission.....Im sure once its all together you'll still wheel the s*** out of it like you always do.
Man moonshine is like a different truck. Its been cool watching the transformation over the last couple years....You must be stoked!

Tom, I cannot describe how stoked I am. Moonshine has been reborn! It was the right decision going with a completely new body. I'm glad it's been fun watching the rebuild process. It's certainly been fun wrenching on her. Maybe you'll get to see her yourself next summer!

Understatement of the century. This spring it took me 5 weeks to get the frame swapped. Yesterday, it took us 14.5 hours to swap out the body. That's one hell of an improvement.

I didn't get home till 12:00 or 12:30, so yeah, I took a shower and went straight to bed. Thanks again for everything Darin, this would not have been possible without you.

Now, to the progress pictures. We rolled it into the shop and in about two hours, we had this:

Convertible conversion complete.

This part was pretty crazy. When we went to lift the old tub off of the frame, we thought for a minute that it was still hooked up in the middle. Turns out that without the roof, the tub had no structural integrity whatsoever. If someone would have stood in the middle when it was up on the lift like this, it would have folded right in half. Pretty crazy that I was driving this around!

Pulling into the gas station in Raeford, I found out three key pieces of information. First, the speedo cable was laying on top of the cat, so that got hooked up. Second, found that the filler neck vent tube was disconnected, so that got hooked up amist a shower of gasoline. Third, it was REALLY COLD without weatherstripping It was great to drive her home with her new body.
