Alright, pretty big update regarding the cruiser, I contacted Mick FTE and im having him build me a harness. Seems like a cool guy in general and seems pretty knowledgeable, that and if you do research on most of the FTE swaps on facebook groups, majority of swaps use his harness and speak highly of them, which is enough for me.

When I initially asked he said he wasn't making LHD looms anymore because he's since updated his harnesses and therefore jigs.

I asked what he needed, so I gathered up some measurements for him, mainly around the length of the engine harness, from the firewall grommet, to the ECU, and the overall grommet position.

Got him a few pictures for various plugs and their locations.

Lastly he needed my 1fz-fe engine harness as well. So I shipped it today.

Hopefully he's able to turn it around pretty quick, but we're probably hitting a pause here.

What about the ECU, you sending him the ECU to get rid of the immo?

I sent him the ECU part number and he said it doesn't have an immobilizer, which surprised me because I thought all hdj100's had them. Is there a way to tell definitively? I do not see any security or immobilizer lights flash when I start it or insert the key.

Seems to me you have post 2002 HDJ100, to 2002 the immobilizer was in the ECU , past 2002 it was in separate box.

Not much going on, ordered 12mm and 8mm fuel line. Im going to take the fuel lines off the 80 and then just bend to match..

Hopefully ill have the 1hdft oil pan and pickup soon, I should have the correct engine mount bracket this week or early next week as well.

Bought a pressure washer at HF and cleaned up the engine bay, and frame rails. Took a leaf blower to the interior.

Im contemplating a ABS delete at the moment as well. It'll help clear up some space in the engine bay, and it doesnt work anyway.

Hopefully ill have the fte sitting in the 80 before the end of the month.

Yall think I can make these 35x11.50's fit with an angle grinder and cut off wheel? I've already got the wheel adapters. Maybe Friday. 🤣

My three brain cells are hyped today. The last few parts besides the wiring harness are coming in.

New tube assembly (fuel) came in. I ordered this from Yoshi parts, this one is for a later model hdj80, the send line is 12mm, and the return is 8mm.

Has the same bolt pattern as the 1fzfe fuel sending unit as shown.

@MooseMichaels, not sure if you've looked into the fuel line size issue yet, but I think this solves some of the problem at the tank end.

Really nice find (part numbers too!), my few brain cells have been burning up going through parts diagrams and different options. Strangely, just earlier today I was considering doing hard lines vs running diesel rated rubber lines. Feeling like hard lines is the best long term solution.

I’m not sure if you’ve considered this yet, but in doing some asking of ChatGPT it sounds like swaps have been done in the past using a lift pump somewhere in/near the tank, and I’ve seen in the diesel 80 series registry that there are some that have gone without a lift pump with no issues. Might head over to the FB to see other’s experience on this topic tonight.

@MooseMichaels, You should be able to use your main fuel line as a return and bend up a 1/2” (12mm) as the main. I don’t think they came from the factory with an inline lift pump but I have not researched the 1hdfte that much. Check your fuel cap and make sure it’s venting properly as well. Just cause….

Nice work. You already have a 8mm line for the return. Just use the original gas supply line as your return with the diesel. Worked good on my swap.
