Any tips or tricks on the install? Where do the red/black wires connect?

Red and black are the power connections for the DRL halo rings. you can connect them to a 12v circuit that is live when the engine is running. NOTE: don't connect it to the actual DRL output because the voltage is too low and it will not work. I decided I didn't like the "angel eyes" at all so I just wired them to come on with the brights only.

I've been happy with mine. They are about 2 years old and still holding up. Definitely not OEM quality, typical chinese, but they get the job done and still look good but they are starting to become slightly cloudy.

These look great. Hard to tell if that kit includes the lenses/covers? Mine are cracked and yellowish and I'm not really sure what my move is there.

EDIT: I see in the description that kit includes "clear lenses". Was install pretty straightforward? Thx

I have yet to see a output shot of these cheap replacement lights and if they are starting to get cloudy after two years its not worth spending a dime. You guys spend thousands on bumpers, lifts , wheels, tires and $200 for lights? Prime example is the truck 2 post up.
Save your money and buy NEW OEM... either Poly Carbonate or the early model Glass.. both are still available .My 2006 lights which where Poly had not started to fade but they did have small spider cracks. To date I've retrofitted 30 plus LX lights but i only work with new housings but I've sold 30plus brackets to those wiling to DIY their current lights
The plug and play versions are retrofitted with the Morimoto D2S 5.0 which has a very impressive output and they are bi-xenon... so they also fire as a high beams . To those who think the LX factory lights are great...the first shot are stock low beam ..the second are the lights I build..The shots where sent to me by a client
If you need new lights and you want your truck to look cool by the cheap halos but if you're looking for amazing output retrofitting an HID is the only great option at this time

I found a photo I took mid install as I wanted to see the difference. This first photo is stock light drivers side. Second photo is the cheap Amazon light. I’m covering the other light in each photo.
I’m pleased with the difference. Long term I will convert the stock lights using what I’ve learned here on mud.

Is the second picture also the drivers side?
If so you’re better off with stock headlights.. better distance and better width

That would be a great option but LX lights have a rear cap sealing the opening... you could have two issues. Do the LED’s fit under the cap and if so how will you vent the heat which will toast an LED

No second pic is the passenger side, I'm covering the driver side. I hadn't at this point done any aiming. I have raised them so they throw a bit farther. I lost a loose side light wheeling in the spring. Decided to give these a try so that im not time constrained when doing the conversion.
No idea when I will get to that. When I do Ill post up another compare.
I do agree the HID retrofit with the glass lens is the best long term.
That said the cheap lights are a nice affordable alternative.

My 99 has HID bulbs no other change, I hate the squirrel finders on those, very distracting. I am going to setup a side by side compare with measurements of that and my 2000 with the Amazon lights. Doing this for my own curiosity not trying to make a point or prove anything.

You can get extended depth caps. I need to use those on the HID's on the 99 as it only had the bulbs done by PO and the caps are bypassed allowing all sorts of crap to get in.
The caps though as you state don't address the heat disposition that the LED's need. Has anyone had LED's with the extended caps in for a year or two? Are they holding up?

I just did the aftermarket headlight replacement with LEDs both H1 high beams and H7 low beams. Will post light output when I get a chance at night. As for the LED cooling, I found some Amazon LED specific dust covers and I think they will cool them just fine. See pics.

I just bought a truck with these on them, what bulb is the low beam and high beam? Mine has H1 on low beam but the low beam housing is just a big open circle. So the led bulbs actually just hang in the projector housing. I can’t believe this guy has been driving like this with no headlights

-new '04 lx470 owner. ~135k. it was a grueling search.

if anyone has the wiring instructions/modifications necessary to prevent the fog lights from shutting off when we trigger the high beams, can you please post them? i have previously done this mod on a 4th gen 4r, but there's certain to be some differences.

i intend on installing a quad d2s 5.0 retrofit, likely with one set run from an auxiliary switch. it looks like i'll need to relocate the filler stem for the washer fluid. once the headlight retrofit is finished, i'll work on getting some mini h1 8.0s, with the cutoff shield filed flat, installed in my fog light housings- yes, i know it'll be a tight fit when i reach this point i don't want the fog light's ballasts shutting off every time i flash the high beams.

i'll post some pics when i finish things up. it might be a while, as i have brakes, wheel bearings, alignment, timing belt, fluid flushes, etc. on the list too. you know - fun.
