I bought the 128GB both for the storage and hopefully smoother performance memory wise. I think if you're just doing carplay you might be OK with less but I wouldn't get the base model either way. I've installed Plex on mine and have downloaded/synced a bunch of movies over! Too bad there's no video out support.

Good to know! I was scratching my head why you would need 128g but that makes sense for movies. Definitely a shame there is no video output.

Also, any extra items you recommend or regret buying with the unit? TPMS, power filter, backup cam, ect?

For what it's worth I went with the lowest priced CC3 option (prior to the 2K release) and have been perfectly happy with the performance. I was hoping to minimize cost on the CC3 just in case I ran in to problems, or needed to replace it in a few years.

I haven't noticed any sluggishness or signs of memory constraint at any point.
Pretty sure mine has just 32GB of storage, but that's plenty enough for my needs. About 2/3 of that space is taken up with offline maps (GAIA and Google) to ensure they're always available. All my media files (flac, mkv, etc) are stored on a large capacity USB flash drive in the glove box. Makes it easy to manually copy files using a PC, and easy to add another flash drive if needed.

RE: optional items

Backup camera - Not mandatory, but would result in a much improved image quality. You'll need to mount the camera, install the signal and power wires which might be a pain. I used a posi-tap to connect the CC3 to the factory backup camera. The image quality is quite crappy but otherwise it works just fine.

The TPMS sensors look super intriguing and I'll likely get some when I do a tire/wheel upgrade. Apparently the TPMS app displays the PSI value for each tire, down to a tenth. Would love to see this displayed instead of that annoying TPMS dash light.

Alright, pulled the trigger on the CC3 2K unit for my 03 LX w/ Nav. Checked the box for the TPMS, Sony Camera, and external mic.

Planning to do a big install day with the head unit, refoam the speakers, and replace the sub.

Scratch the last question and thank you. It's working now. Even the steering wheel controls and antenna.

The only lingering issue is that calls are going through my handset rather than the speakers and mic while using Car Link 2.0. Will figure that out next. Thank you so much.
My audio shop is stuck in this exact spot. Any advice on how you got it going from this point? Trying to get air conditioning going

I haven't messed with it. My wife's apple phone works correctly but not my android. If you stumble upon an answer I'd be happy to hear it. It makes me think it's software related but I'm very out of my depth on that front.

The installer couldn't find the climate controls and I was like yeah, no biggie, I read in this thread where it was. Then even when I checked the air conditioning protocol and start assistant when turned on I still don't have a snowflake. Incidentally the steering wheel controls aren't working. This made me go into model selection where I start at the T'eyes app and select the LC100. When I do that sort of nothing happens. I'm suspecting there's a CANbus selection issue? I'm assuming it's getting some signal if the reverse camera is operational. Any thoughts?

Climate Control - this might help? also I had a problem with the T'eyes OTA which caused the snowflake to disappear, here's what worked for me

Phone not connecting - Bluetooth has to be connected, even if you're AA wired. Select the BT app (not the one with the music symbol) and make sure you've paired with full access (call history contacts etc). If BT is off on my Android phone, no phone audio through the T'eyes.

Thank you. That gets closer to the core issue; my BT doesn't connect.

Any one experience a dead unit on arrival? Everything is hooked up excluding the two plugs from the car and one from the Teyes unit.

03 LX.

@Eph Take a look at this post/video. It seems to go over the connections in good detail.

Problem solved! Need to up the fuse size to 15.

Next issue, Spotify doesn't seem to work when using Android auto.

Never upsize fuses, it creates a potentially hazardous condition. The original fuse is sized that way for a reason, and the associated electrical components and wiring in that circuit may not tolerate an additional 5 amps of current. Could result in destroying components or possibly even a fire if things go really sideways. I'd suggest disconnecting your battery, replacing fuse with original size, reconnecting and trying again. If the fuse continues to blow there's other issues with the wiring which should be addressed.

I don't use AA, so I can't directly comment on your Spotify issue. It sure sounds software-related so perhaps try updating all Apps in the Play Store, or if that fails try flashing the latest firmware on your CC3.

Agree. Thanks for the heads up. Switched back and seems to be operating as planned.

Hey all,

So I installed my Teyes and everything works except the AC icon not appearing. I have tried the factory reset, updated canbus, setting the canbus protocol lc>null, reboot etc. Nothing works except going into my file manager and reinstalling canbus to get to the menu. Any ideas on how to get the icon to appear?

Scratch that. Went to touch assisstant and found the icon 🤪

I have everything installed and works. Only issue Im having is the amp & unit wont turn off with the key out of the ignition. Any ideas?

Try the process of setting the canbus protocol multiple times.
Set it to lc100
Reboot
Test it
Set it back to null
Reboot
Repeat

It can take a few times

Don't trust the snowflake. Go into the climate control and see if the buttons work for the temperature or fan speed. Note that done buttons don't work even when the canbus module is connected, like the rear controls.
I've done this like 5 times with no luck. The temp/fan buttons "react" but don't do anything. Any recommendations?

ETA:

Got it working. Turns out the installer did not plug one of the plugs into the back of the new screen. Also, one of my wires/pins that connected to the CANbus "decoder" thing was loose, as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I will note that somebody mentioned that a big female plug with only 4 green wires needs to be connected for the AC to work. This plug is not connected in my setup. There are still two plugs on the car side of the wiring and one plug (mentioned previously) on the supplied harness that are not connected.

I have an 03 LX. Feels like a new car and the radio sounds better with the Teyes unit.

Updated (via FOTA app) to version 20231204. Been testing for the past month or so, and happy to report rock solid on AA and CP, wired and wireless.

And in other news:

One of my young men and I were out n about, and he cued up Fred again / Marea "We've Lost Dancing". Lucky sod has tickets for FA's Gold Coast gig this weekend.

We cranked it - man good sounds from a 17 year old stereo - go the Lexus! Then - the big bass drop ~00:47 - and the read subwoofer transmogrified into a rattle can.

Looks like I'm saving for a new DSP/Amp and speakers :)

Set my Engineering student - who I "blame" for the blown sub - a beer economy job: refoam the sub. Used the Simply Speakers kit. And we found the "how to" replace the subwoofer thanks to Club Lexus - LX470 Levinson Subwoofer repair.

Oh and you can see in the video below - the phone is connected via AA wireless...

Sounds like bass again, not a rattle can :).
