yeah that sound is making my pants tight

Ha, well my driver's seat looks like crap if that helps. And my front bumper is dented in. So no excuses get on that turbo!! Lol

OK. Now I HAVE to do the turbo...... I've always liked the sound of the turbo spooling up, but that is just kick ass! Maybe I'll skip doing the seats, and the lift, and oil changes, and front bumper and..........

DAMN! Gotta do the basics before I can play!

i just got a chubby!

Your turning into a Moab area guidebook. Keep it up.

Here is one more flip phone pic for you. This is the high tech method of charging nitrogen shocks in Moab. You have to love the safe vehicle lift as the guy puts his whole body between the tire and fender.

How are you liking your Duratracs out there? I was very happy how mine worked there.

For my use the duratracs are perfect. I am not all that interested in hard core rock crawling I find it boring and slow, lol. But for covering lots of miles on pavement, gravel, dirt roads and occasional nasty spots they are ideal. they are much lighter than a true Offroad tire but I really wanted to keep the wheel/tire weight down after driving an 80 with steel double beadlocks and 37's it was a dog.

were you at the moab outpost? That guy saved my bacon last year for cruise moab.

Short story is my exhaust blew apart where the flex pipe was. This was the day before inspection and check-in, so i wouldn't have passed for trail rides. He said bring it in first thing the next morning. I was at his front gate before they opened. Took the cruiser in, a few hour later came out and handed me the keys. Said, no charge! I was like WTF... no charge?! He said the weld was ugly but it will hold. Said he couldn't charge for welds coming out of his shop looking like that.

If i'm ever out that way i'm going to drop them off a case of cheer wine or something.

Yep 4x4 Outpost, the owner is Steve Nantz. Good guy. While I was there a guy in a Range Rover called and was stranded on a trail a good 2.5 hours from Moab with a blown diff. Steve was putting together a rescue group to go save him.

It's hard to make a living in Moab during non peak times so I am sure he would appreciate the case and if you have a little non emergency work to drop in and have them do. Lol

Ok looks like the LX will be going in storage. I didn't get into my #1 choice for school, which I should have expected since it is the number one school in the country and my second and third choices have emissions regulations that would prevent a turbo 80 series from being registered. So it will end up in a storage unit for 2 years or so and will get it's legs stretched every so often.

But that leaves me with only the LS430, which I like, but don't feel comfortable with it as my only car. I can't say I need a super capable offroad vehicle since I will be in NoVA or FL but I would like AWD/4WD. I would like 4 doors. Something sportier. Something I can haul the dog in, probably put a 2" receiver hitch mounted mountain bike rack on. Kind of unique not really a dime a dozen. Decent gas mileage, I would like to see 20mpg on the hwy. 2010+. I don't have a job so less than $40k. Any ideas?

The usual (100 series, 4runner, GX, etc) have all gone through my mind, but I feel like the new 4runner and Tacoma have taken a drastic drop in quality. The 100 series is too old. I wish I didn't hate that Subaru WRX STI wagon it seems to check all the boxes but it felt so cheap.

Any ideas would be appreciated it. I would love to hear some ideas from outside the box. Thanks!

Why not register it in Utah? Since your going to school it isn't a permanent residence.

Since I am a military veteran I will need to be a resident of the state I am attending for benefits. Going by the letter of the law in VA you have to register your vehicles within 30 days of moving, and certain areas of Northern Virginia require you to have neighborhood registration stickers to park in the neighborhoods. Total cluster there but it is what it is. I had my 55 towed the night I trailered it home from Chicago and parked it on the street for 1.5 hours while I was taking the trailer back to it's owner.
