Sorry to here about your back mate I have had back problems for a few years now. Have you tried an osteopath if not I recommend this before surgery they work wonders

Not good news locked hope everything works out with your back mate.
What sort of money do they want for a clutch as the clutch looks like a Exedy safari to me. I would have the old flywheel machined with a new dowe's if it's still in spec.

Cheers guys. @chappohj47 My neurosurgeon mentioned osteopathy but didn't think it would help. I will mention it again and see what he says.
@ozcrusier. The clutch kit is $1699 with the flywheel or $1060 without. I don't know what its off but the 1vd ftv flywheel has to be redrilled and dowled to suit the new pressure plate. Im hoping a couple of hundred will cover that. I had a safari clutch in the old ute and it's slipping point was about 185rwkw

New NPC 1300Nm clutch kit. This should solve any and all slippage problems.

I had the flywheel surfaced and then redrilled to suit the new pressure plate. New hardened steel dowels were installed also. Overall, it was a spendy excercise, but I don't want to be pulling the gearbox again any time soon.

Installed

Hopefull the gearbox crossmember mods will be finished tomorrow.

Hmmm. No update for a while. I've just been doing the little things like:
- transfer case seals
- power steering lines
- fuel lines
- brake lines
- inner gaurd mods
And a lot more test fitting of various other components. This all takes more time than I would have thought.

Just need to fabricate the exhaust to the rear of the cab, then the cab will stay on for good.

Also aquired a bumper for the meantime until the bullbar and rails are ready to go on.

Looking good mate

I bet your looking forward to the cab going on. What's the plan for the tray back.
Not wrong. As soon as the cab stays on I can start the A/C and electrical work.

As far as the tray goes, it will have a 3" mandrel headboard, 1930mm x 2400mm (to cover the extra wheel track width) steel construction with a timber floor. It will also be a tip tray with a 5 stage ram and hydralic motor like this one.

It will be of similar design to my old one with side toolboxes and a water tank. Not the best pic.

There was a time when i used to think i had one of the hottest 70 series Cruisers on the planet (so i was a little biased, kick me), but threads like this one, and others here on Mud, have me realize that is far from true. Wow, Locked79, wow...

Let me just say Ih8exhausts...... Not having the correct tools makes any job 10x harder than it needs to be. This exhaust system nearly made me go gray and it's not even finished yet.

Pic.

3.5" system with the standard cat modded to suit. All bends were cut out of a donut with a hacksaw.

Time to put the cab on and start wiring up.

So finally the cruiser came off the hoist and.......... it runs. Woohoo.

Primed it up, hit the key and within 1 second it was running. No smoke or misses at all. Even with the exhaust ending at the rear of the cab, its suprisingly quiet. The catalytic converter must have taken some of the bark out.

Next on the list, Brakes. Its a bit unnerving when you have absolutely no way of stopping but trying to grab reverse when heading for the shed wall.

Nice progress mate looks great

Quick progress locked. What do you transport round in the back? and what colours you thinking with cab, flares and bar work?
cheers mate
I usually transport all kinds of things which is why I need a full size tray. Anything from my quads, dirt, gravel, leaves, branches, rubbish, tools, etc. Flares will stay white and barwork will be black or silver vein hammertone. I haven't decided yet.

I know this is a very long shot, but.... does anyone know how to read and reset the SRS codes for a 2012 vdj79r. I've reconnected everything but the light is still on. I don't want to take it to Toyota if I don't have to. Hopefully there's an obd2 pin out or something.
