Not sure how I missed this thread...probably bc I have been on the forum much lately. Helluva build mate. I started a build similar to yours years ago but life got in the way and I didn't finish it. Well a recent trip to South Africa was the motivation I needed to get the thing finished.

I'm currently trying to order the bull bar for it. Which one do you feel worked best on your project? Its not easy to find a arb bull bar for a 79 series in the states.

I need to get a parts list together for you Beno. Still a few nick nack interior parts I need to source. I was planning on bringing them back from ZA but ended up getting robbed a couple days before I left

I started off with a the commercial non flare, non winch bar. I didn't know about the differences in width and completely overlooked the fact it wasn't a winch bar. It just didn't look right with the factory flares. About an inch a side too narrow. I ended up scoring a deluxe arb to suit factory flares and winch for $0 so went that way.

Well I was wondering how much wider the flare bar is so thanks for clearing that up for me. I don't have the flares but may add them in the future. I'm not sure I want them though as the tend to trap dirt/sand/salt. I live at the beach so things rust very quickly. I'm leaning towards the flare bar and hoping that it won't look too wide without the flares.
I don't reckon I'll find the deal you got on yours though.

Im all good. Walked away from it uninjured. Came over a crest in the road and found a group of cattle waiting for me. Tried to avoid bending my new bullbar by swerving but the road was a lot more slippery than I thought.

Great news that you walked away those pics tell us that it was build well looks like she went over a few times and held tojether. I hope insurance come to the party so we can see another build thread. :)

Hi Oz. This actually happened about 4 weeks ago, but I wasn't in the mood to post about it. Insurance has come to the party and I also bought it back so I can start another build. I haven't taken any chassis measurement yet but I don't think it will be an issue. Bring on v2.
