Little Barn build Thread

Well, this summer brought a new Little Boy and my family and I worked on building this little shed. This will in the end give me more room in the garage for the landcruiser, as snowblower, lawnmowers, chainsaws ext. will be moving out of my hair and into this building. Got the plans from a shed book I picked up at the bookstore, and just made them bigger.

12X16 building
10 foot walls
stick framed roof (for more storage, upstairs)
Cedar siding
metal roof
and alot of staining


I have not done an ongoing thread so will try to keep this going, if I don't mess it up.

Cedar barn style doors

A buddy from work and I built these doors in about 4 hours,
turned out nice and very easy to put together.

3/4inch plywood (backing)
1X6 Cedar (up and down)
1X4 Cedar outter and X's

glued and screwed- Wood about $230

barn rail system -$70 bucks Ace

Doors hung

This was fun, I had to take these doors on and off as the instructions consisted of ( Put these together right, for max adjustment ) with a crappy drawing.

Well it worked

Putting the metal cap around the front was fun, not much for hanging ten on a ladder, so I gave this a try. It worked pretty well to get up for the tall work. Was slow going, but worked for me.

Is the top close off from inside? What will you use the spaces for?

The top is going to be for camping equip. etc. No access from the inside just doors on the outside and a ladder.....

Minus the (fine OSHA example) ladder on 2x6 across 2x6 on scaffolding technique, it looks great. Of course I know you were wearing fall protection tied off to the top of the ladder. No doubt it was a 6' lanyard with 4' of ripstop, which of course expands out to a total of 10' when deployed.

SWEEEEET..........

Just remember it is a shed, besides it really is too nice to be an in-law shack anyway.

Finished the back

Finished the back of the building this week and got my staining done. Still have to build two upper doors, last thing I have to do.

Firewood

Yes Shane, we are tossing the blue tarp and moving up town. The firewood will be going in as soon as I get done. You can see those stupid blue tarps on google earth, that's how I can find our home.... Out with the Hill Billy... Dave

Upper Doors

Well I went back to my friends shop and we got the upper doors put together.. Hope they work, this should be the final if they fit, then I will get the final pics...
