Nice work, thanks for the update

you gonna show us how you enclosed the rear fender wells or is your cab still filled with mud?

Lots of cutting and welding.. I'll get pics up as soon as it's all finished up. Shouldn't be too long :) I've got some 4Runner seats to throw in and a rear bench for the kids, then it's getting the Olive Drab rattle can treatment...and maybe some beadlocks for good measure.

The front is being swapped out for a disc brake front axle, and the rear is going to get the disc swap later on. The drums are still on there for now though, which aren't so bad if properly adjusted.

I'll prob. be doing the 56" rear spring swap and disc conversion at the same time, then tossing FJ55 springs up front and doing a shackle reversal when I swap in this disc axle.

don't get me wrong dude .. I know well adjusted drums performe pretty fine .. just curiuys about it ..

No biggie man, sorry if I came off like a jerk. I haven't actually taken the time to properly adjust the drums because I know I'll be going to disc's soon.

I may swap in a '90 4Runner master cyl. too because mine seems to be losing pressure ... seals are prob shot. I honestly am not a brake whiz but I'll let ya know how all that turns out.

I know i'm a "little late" on this thread :o but, how did you dove tail the hard top and keep the rear quarter windows? In other words how did you open up the 90° bend with out it causing the window to pop out?

The window seals for the quarter windows were pliable enough that they allowed the windows to stay in place even with the slight bed in the rear quarters. If I had to bend it much more though...

My master Cylinder was pretty much shot so I installed one out of a 1990 4Runner. It bolted right in...almost.

I had to cut about 3/4" off of the plunge rod or whatever you call that thing in order for it to be the same length as was on the stock MC.

Here are some shots showing how the intermediate shaft for the Scout PS turned out. I ended up using the collapsible shaft from the 4Runner and a couple of sweet mfg. steering joints - 3/4 x 3/4 smooth bore and 3/4 smooth bore x 13/16" - 36 spline. They were around $50/ea at a local race car supply shop. They weld real nice. I used the Carrier bearing I bought from Ken on here and that worked great as well. Thanks Ken!

And these pics have absolutely nothing to do with FJ's but just to prove I'm human...

Heres a Pic of my wifes Pyrex glass casserole dish after she left me alone to babysit while she went to some makeup party. PS> Don't use the stovetop to melt cheese on macaroni if it's in a glass dish. This would be a good one for Bill Nye the Science Guy to explain :o

The other one is a pic of the twins goofin off ;)

Spent the last couple days painting the FJ. Took about 6 cans of John Deere Green Rustoleum :D I also got the exhaust welded up, brakes bled and LED tail lights re-wired. It's exciting. This thing is just about ready to go and moose season is still 30 days away! I'm making it street legal so I can just run out and go hunting after work, or take the kids on a ride.

To do:

Weld in the rear wheelwells
Bolt rear seats down
Dump some stuff in the Boggers and pray the shaking stops
Install OME Steering Stabilizer
Fab quick release HDPE fender flares and mudflaps
Install LED turn signals in the front bumper
Toss the winch on and go wheel it:)

Thanks. It was for a Jeep YJ...just bolted right up. I'm going to do a grille hoop metal-tech style and run some tube along the fender line and down along the rockers. I'll also be wrapping it around back, building a little cage exo-style. That's a project for this winter in the new shop :)

Thanks. Edited ;)

Wow rig turned out looking good. I hope I have the same luck. take care
