Yooper or Rob: greetings from Spokane, WA.

I was wondering if I could request seeing more photos of the interior and the texture product? I am also in the middle of a complete body off/frame off on a 1979 FJ40. My veteran painter recommended to me to use a heavy texture and then topcoat as you have done to prevent the premature wear of the paint on the floor and the spread of rust down the road. I think this must be something you or Yooper know something about? I plan on keeping my FJ40 forever as it has consumed a year of my life and will take 6 more months to be done. Any ideas if value effects of the texture? I have waffled back on forth on this question a couple times. My painter says to spray the underside of the cab with it and to spray the interior of the cab with it also. We are at the primer stage at the cab. He thinks that the way toyota designed these trucks that they should be protected beyond the factory ideas.

Suggestions?

thanks

Aaron

More detailed pictures please.

Under hood, apron edges, bib edges ect ect

Spray the inside of the windshield frame?

Single stage?

Where can I mail some decals to? If I may?

You have done a fantastic job on this restoration, did you do all of the work yourself? I love the mustard color, i hope mine turns out that well also. Thanks for the pics but post some more please!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

I have used Gattor Guard, which is a two part system and is tintable also, good product but sets very quick and you have to work fast.

The product I used this time is also tintable and made by pro form, very reasonable price and easy to use.

When tinting it comes close but not exactly the same colour, by top coating it gives a consistant colour from in to out and when Yooper plans on running a soft top I feel it looks better. Also I chose to cover the door seal edges on the tub for added protection as this part seems to see a lot of wear, although I did keep the door seal are smooth and untextured for the weather stripping to seal.

Also even if the paint in the tub does chip or wear at least its is a simular colour and will not catch your eye.

You know.... I forgot the fj40 from the factory does not paint the upper tub rails, guess its painted with the roof on?

Thanks, yes I did everthing short of paint and had the painter/prepper go over the truck and pick up any missed areas, he has a eye that catchs everything.

I will post up so more this week when the top goes back on.

Need some door seals.
I like the Spectre visors, they are nice touch to a restoration.

Thats pretty much all thats left.

Rob

Awsome

Gotta say, best paint I have ever put out, cannot take the credit as a 20 year vetran painter splashed it.

Over 2.5 hours to mask this baby off.

Spraying was done in three steps, white parts first, inside of tub plus roof next then body and doors third.

Rob

Impressive job - AND a hot chick. Wish I could get mine in that irder as fast! Keep the pics coming:cheers:

Thanks......

Wow, it looks amazing! WELL worth the little bit of extra wait I've had. Wow, now I'm really excited to see it in person!

Shane, if you would send decals to Rob that would be super sweet! His address is on his web site: http://www.raddcruisers.ca

Yes I did have to use filler over some welds, its thin but a necessity to get the smooth look.

Thanks

Rob

Did you have to use filler over the patched areas to smooth it out or just grind the welds smooth??

Cruiser looks great
