Thats what I thought, good thing I have not put it on yet........

NO.

That sticker goes INSIDE the fuel door.

That sticker goes INSIDE the fuel door.

Your kidding right?

It goes on the outside of the vehicle so it can be clearly seen. Some were about the door and some at the top of the door about 1/2 inch below the lip.

Ask the owner when in doubt.

Shane<EDIT> This is a U.S. Version

In this case, on MY truck, I would much prefer that it go inside the fuel fill door. I'd just rather not put any stickers on my perfect new paint externally. Even if that's not quite perfectly correct.

Rob, either put it on the inside of the door, or above the fill hole, wherever it fits better.

I won't be putting anything other than unleaded fuel in it. ;)

The transportation schedule is still tentative, but you can expect my driver to show up probably the first or second week of November...

The result was certainly worth the wait, and some of the wait was my own fault, but I'm a little bummed that I won't be driving it for a while. It's going right into winter storage when it gets here. I won't put more than a few miles on it until the snow melts in the spring and the salt is off the roads...:bounce:

THE OWNER

Ahhh....can't ship that yet, because there's no tire shine on the tires! Come on, it's all in the details! :)

If Rob puts tire shine on my tires, they'll go flat and the Cruiser will stop running in protest and I'll refuse to pay him. It would be a bad scene all around!

Sean, the rig is on its way.

Your friend Lee was a typical cruiser nut, I think he actually has me beat(go figure).

Hey Rob,

What's the big idea of posting a photo of that old guy with a beer belly posing beside a fine 40? Where's the babes in bikinis?

Lee

Yooper,
The remnant of the original sticker was still inside the fuel door of my '77 FJ40 when I got the truck, so not to worry about your 'correctness', :).

My JDM diesel BJ40 apparently wasn't bothered by such silliness.

now I would have sworn that the un-leaded sticker was on the left hand upper part of the dash......both on the green and mustard 82's.....both kinda off kilter a bit........and I thought I have seen them in this spot of many other late 40's

now I gotta go look at my 82 :)

Yooper, Rod and Lee.....the 40 looks great :)

still think your nuts to drive it back this time of year...........but we know Lee is nuts :D

Hey John,

You don't know the half of it. Or maybe you do? Crappy tires have been replaced with new 33x950 shoes from BFG. Now I'm holed up in a flea bag hotel room with the door barricaded, hoping I'm not killed by local gang members before the new alternator arrives from Cruiser Dan tomorrow AM. Then I head across Washington and Montana into the heart of the winter storm. Anything else but a 40 and I wouldn't attempt it. Or maybe I would? Uh oh, sounds like someone is trying to break down my door. I'll report in later, if I survive the night. BTW, you say I'm nuts but Kathy says I'm just real eccentric. D'oh...

Lee

Lee, glad you got your post count past 13, I was worried your luck might change.

Been thier and done the flea bad hotels in a strange place, what a trip it should be.

Keep us informed........

Rob

I was filled in last night about your adventure......

remember I said them tires wouldn't make it.....to far.....

and turns out the only alt/reg in WA was indeed mine at Titus Will, you could have had it if I'd know.....it was just a spare for me. BTW......my price was $135 ;) am suprised the alt/battery craped out, that was a genuine Toyota battery...but was old I guess. For future reference any 82-87 fj40 or 60 alt works just fine in an 82

oh.....the amp meter doesnt work, never did, same as my green 82

still think your nuts.......:D

good luck......:)

Delivery complete. SeaKnight arrived here in Michigan from more than half way across the country about an hour before I had to take him to the airport for his flight out! The Cruiser didn't break. There were several weather related delays (closed highways in Montana, for example).

Thanks to all involved. My life is a bit more complete now.

Ya, is there too. There be two of 'em so's you don't forget, or maybe so you know and the gas pump person knows too.

Can't be too careful.

John,
that's your mustard truck that can't make it out of Washington? Maybe you shouldn't have sold it - it doesn't WANT to go! :D

edit: Yooper posted while I was busy ragging John.

Glad to see it made it, Yooper! Congrats.

Well its been two years since Sea Knight was out to pick up the FJ40, good too see him a couple weeks ago. All the way out from Texas to visit his son.

To bad we never got together for that beer.

Hope the rig is treating Yooper well.
