Good expedition rig.......good for those big expeditions to the grocery store.;)

Nice truck, Just not quite what I expected as an expedition rig.

most of the trucks posted in this thread are not "expedition" rigs but are weekend camping toys.

to one person it is an expedition rig, to another it is a glorified mall queen ...
a snorkel, a bumper and a lift doesn't make an expedition rig.

in reality, a 2wd ford with a camper is just as much an expedition rig. i have personally seen a 2wd dually with a winch and a camper at the top of a cutline that Cruisers owners bragged about conquering. it is the driver, it is the ability to sustain one self in the outback ...

or am i missing something here?

No that's probably right on. In life definitions tend to get obscured as time goes on and as life shapes us.

If there ever was a "zombie apocalypse" or something of the like we would all likely be surprised as to what rigs will really be trekking through it! Just a thought... That is a clean later model 4Runner though, I always liked those larger rear side windows!

Good call Crushers.

Wayne, Copan, thanks. Just because a rig gets a good wash, wax, and all the gear stripped down for a local trip with the family doesn't mean it doesn't get used for my intended purposes. Been all over in it including into Mexico twice. I got in a couple local trips recently too and will have to load those shots up. I just really take care of keeping it clean. That said, my not having a daily driver anymore is eating all our travel $ up quickly.

Open a thread of your own if you wish to discuss the topic you raise or I will? :D I know I wish mine was only a single purpose deal. Then again driving here in California everyday on our freeways it feels like an adventure and I like being able to have people too scared to follow or tailgate me.

Personally I plan on running until I am out of breath then letting them take me. Hopefully my brains won't taste too good and then I'll get to be a Zombie too. You gotta admit, aside from the unending urge for brains and flesh, they got a pretty simple life going. :D

Post fixed, sorry guys. My iPhone's acting up and doesn't like me pairing the words stripped, gear, and heat so I wrote it differently.

This is for you Wayne, 16 days, 240 Km north of Ft St James, BC. Yes, the cot on the right is where I slept, the tailgate on the left is where I sat and that is my stove for cooking. It rained, snowed, and got really cold a couple of times too. This particular spot is 34 Km past the end of the road following a quad and some moose and wolf tracks. But nothing fancy yet, just a good winch and good tires. That is an expedition, but your point is well taken, too.

Three generations of Nissan Patrols in Wyoming, none of which were sold in the USA!

[/QUOTE]

The blue one in the back brings back memories of growing up in south america. My dad's was white. Too bad they hardly sold them here in the US.

Here's mine at the moment. Not as "expedition" ready as I would like it but it is coming slowly. It's still pretty stock, but much more functional than many other vehicles on the market as it is.

Very nice!... What are those silver cases on the roof rack (brand/model)? Thanks!

I like the left pick... Looks like a good one for a Toyota magazine add. :D
