I just installed new Leaf Springs on a 1986 FJ60. I did not put this plate on the top and the rubber on the bottom when I installed new springs. Should I have done this. Or dose it matter if I don't do this. The springs are old man emu.

You are good to go. The pictured parts are not used with the OME springs.

If you delete those OEM plates then you have to use a little metal bushing between the top center pin of the spring and the axle spring perch. Rear leafspring HELP!

So is that a bushing that goes on the pin on the spring to fill the out the hole the spring goes into on the axle. And are the metal bushing sold separately somewhere?

As red66toy said. The spring pack can shift unless there is a larger bushing installed on the top to fill the large hole of the axle spring support plate above. Normally that original bent U plate that you removed fits snug in the hole & keeps the spring pack centered.

You can re-install the original U plate over the top spring to center the pack instead of a bushing, it just won't reach all the way to the bottom (If your u-bolts are long enough and they look like they are).

@cruiseroutfit can get you those bushings I believe.

Sorry, didn't mean to supply incomplete info, but I assumed that the bushings came with your suspension kit and that you had not put "a small pin into a large hole".

Definitely install the bushings or the u plate as the guys who were paying full attention have said.

I don't know how that can be true. I just installed the near-stock height OME springs and reused the rubber packing. The OME springs are nearly identical in dimension to the originals, and the rubber packing fits perfectly around the OME. Without the rubber packing, the OMEs wiggle around and the centering pin cannot be accurately aligned, as others have pointed out. In my experience, you absolutely need the rubber packing.

When I got the 60, it had an OME lift with both the saddle and the rubber packing on the rear springs. It worked fine.

When I added the AAL springs, per the consensus on MUD, and based on the parts I got from Kurt, I got rid of both parts, used the bushings and have been very happy with the results since, both on and off road.

Glad that your method works for you. I am happy with mine.

There is usually more than one way to "skin a cat".

Here is a pic of the OME bushings. You only need one per rear leaf spring.

Those are not the OME bushings fwiw.

To the OP, If this kit came from us (Cruiser Outfitters), drop us a note and we'll gladly get you the right spacers asap. You don't have to eliminate the rubber isolator, but there is no reason no too either and if you do you must run a spacer to keep he axle aligned and eliminate movement potential. We ship them out free of charge with all springs for 6x's that could have the rubber idolators fwiw.

You can read more about the CBS01's here

Ha! Really? They fit. Weird.

Hmmm, Where did they fit? The OME CBS01 is approx 1" OD, 1/2" ID and 1/2" tall. Yours have an ID much larger than the center bolts OD thus I can't see what they are centering. Not to mention not being tall enough. The FK01 is used on the stock front U-bolts i.e. not using the new OME u-bolts with longer threaded portion.

Oh ok. I'll dig into this more when I get home later. I ordered the center pin bushings (CBS01) and this is what showed up and they fit nicely into the hole on the axle spring perch. About as thick as that metal if I remember correctly.
