You have to feel for all the service workers. Folks that are doing it likely aren’t doing it for a hobby and they are bearing the brunt of the explosion in demand timed with an explosion in entitled attitudes. Since things have opened back up I have seen some outlandish behavior almost every time we have been out to eat. Seems like people would just be happy to be able to go out and chill and enjoy time out of the house.

Still, it’s good to know upfront that dining may be somewhat limited. When you start with low expectations it’s hard to be disappointed and there is a better chance of being pleasantly surprised.

No matter though. Nothing a PB&J and IPA sitting on the tailgate of a 200 can’t fix.

LC tailgate dining is my favorite kind of dining.

Well, unfortunately I have had to cancel attending. Turns out all five of my new wheels are well out of spec for roundness and I have no idea when I will receive the warranty replacements. So, the LC is stuck on jack stands for the foreseeable future :(

Yeah, but how about your not new wheels? :( That is a bummer.

What brand/manufacturer?

I'd bet you can find Tundra wheels on Craigslist for a song. Get your tires on there and hit the road. Sell the wheels for what you paid for them when you get back.

Craigslist for Phoenix area shows tons of Tundra wheel sets available.

I still have the factory Heritage wheels in boxes, but sold the tires. I think I found a set of stock take offs from a Tundra so that I can at least put the vehicle on the ground and move it.

What brand/manufacturer?
KMC KM717 wheels. I have only driven the vehicle a couple of hundred miles just to do the gear break-in, but was having bad vibration above 50mph. Took all of the wheels to a shop that I fully trust and they put the wheels on a lathe to check roundness. They were all oval and way out of spec. They fed the information to the manufacturer(Wheel Pros) and they will swap them whenever they get stock again. Since all five are bad, it is likely that it was a bad batch out of manufacturing. No amount of balancing will resolve vibration from an out of round wheel.

It would seem to me that if you just got those and they have an issue that they may not be the bextst choice. I would sell the warranty ones and put on something that does work like Tundra rims. I found some cheap local, had them powder coated and put on the TRD center cap so its the same as the $450 TRD rim toyota sells. You can always powder coat them later

I noticed you have 17" rims so the above post may not work, but there are TRD rims in 17" as well

RIMs isnt something I would miss a trip for as you can buy cheap temporary ones and replace them later, but everyone has different priorities and I fully support your decision not to come if you want to wait for the specific rims

Correct, I have 17's and tires are 285/75-17s. Honestly, trying to come up with temporary wheels in time that fit perfectly is more risk than it's worth to me. I want to have confidence in my equipment and setup before hitting the road for any type of trip.

Hopefully there is a LCDC 9 and I can join that one in the summer of 2023. Next summer I am gone for a couple of months driving up to Tuk and through Alaska. :)

Is it really true that 550 between Ouray and Silverton will be closed for the next two weeks?

Also I saw that BBP is currently closed due to a truck that rolled on its side. Recovery should be done by the time of LCDC though.

That would change the meetup for Alpine Loop as well since they set it to start in Silverton

I wonder where it will be closed, if its the hole length or just part

also looks like if you get to the trailhead by 8:30 you may be ok

The closure is only from MP 89.5 to MP 92

"When departing Silverton, northbound the closure point will be located near Engineer Mountain Trail, MP 89.5. When departing Ouray, the southbound closure point will be just south of Ouray, MP 92."

MP 89.5 is not shown on the milepost map ... but MP 90 is. Ditto MP 89.

We just need to reach the closure point(s) before the set closure times.
