100% , really puts the LC in a weird spot. I’m guessing the 4R limited with 2.4T will be about the same price as 1958, TRD OR with hybrid will probably slightly undercut the 1958 as well. TRD Pro/Trailhunter Hybrid will be mid-high 60k im guessing.
It really even make sense to have these as different models. The one nice thing about the LC I’m seeing is the bumper panels being modular and look easier to fit aftermarket bumpers without having to weird things at the quarter panel/fender/headlight interfaces.
Yes I think it puts the LC250 in a weird spot pricing wise the 1958 being likely on the higher end of 4R but with cloth seats.
I don’t see the hybrid as a big a benefit as it should/could be since the fuel economy is only marginally better, but probably a $4k option.

Toyota sold 110,000 4Runners in the US in 2023. I'm sure the 4Runner will continue to greatly outsell the LC. A lot more folks in the US are familiar with the 4Runner nameplate than the Land Cruiser. Us LC enthusiasts are not representative of the typical US car buyer.

I always felt like the IRS in the Seqouia was being benchmarked for use in a next generation LC but that clearly didn't happen.

If those are correct - I'm not in love with the design. Looks like a truck they had to configure into an SUV on a budget to me. The design language doesn't work for me. I hope it's just a render and they did a better job in real life. The hood is too long. The windshield is too sloped and roughly 40% of the vehicle length is wasted by that ungainly front design. So the passenger compartment looks like it got smaller despite the longer wheelbase. Overall, to me, it sure looks like a big step back in design. Classic CALTY output. If this is real - I guess the LC250 has more chance of success than I thought it would.

According to that it shares the same 112" wheelbase and length overall as the LC250. This looks almost unusable: (So it must have a 3rd row?)

It seems to me that no matter what Toyota does with the LC that it will offend LC enthusiasts.

I'm glad they revealed the 4Runner now because I was worried I would regret getting the 250 6 months from now. Thankfully, the design looks odd and I have no hesitation with the choice. Now the only choice is used 200 or new 250.
Power. I'd have happily paid double that for an extra 50hp/200 ftlb on my 4runner.
Specifically low-end torque right off the line. It also helps get the rig moving while the engine starts when the start/stop system is enabled.
