1997 Lexus LX450 - Headed to BAT for Auction
This is the 4th 80-series I have owned and has been the best one yet. Bought it in 2019 from a collector in Atlanta when he was making room for a G-Wagon. It was bone stock and he had just completed an oil pump rebuild and knuckle rebuild. It is one of the cleanest 80-series I have come across in the last 15 years. Not a spec of rust on the body or frame. Below is a list of the maintenance performed (all OEM Lexus/Toyota Parts) and upgrades/modifications under my care. Paint is all original (except Rt Rear Fender Flare – repainted last year) and in Excellent shape. One spot of clear coat fading on roof at front corner of sunroof. Everything works as it should except for the CD changer. I've never tried it but I doubt it still works (they never do). This truck is Super Nice, Super Cool, Super Slow and Super Reliable. It has been our back up vehicle for when one of the other cruisers needs maintenance or when we take the kids to the mountains (they love it).
Maintenance:
- Oil changes every 3000 miles or 1yr whichever comes first
- 2020 Front, Rear and Center differential oil replacement
- 2020 Front & Rear Brake rotor and pad replacement, Parking Brake shoe replacement, flushed brake fluid
- 2021 Radiator replacement (original one dripped occasionally)
- 08/2023 Front end rebuild (new bearings, seals, grease, differential oil, swapped birfields) – drivers' side had started ‘seeping’, passenger side okay but rebuilt both at the same time.
- 08/2023 All steering linkage replaced with new ‘555’ tie-rod ends
- 08/2023 Brake fluid flush
