So I am a new owner of a '94 Land Cruiser and loving it so far. :D I realized that I have keyless entry in it but I don't have the fob. I have been doing some research about which system I have and it is a mw-8480. Which I think is different than the rs3000 so I am having a hard time finding information on it. I just would like to know which fob I need to order to go with this box. I cannot figure it out. Also, does the FCC ID have to match on the remote and on the box. I do have a Toyota remote that I found but it's not the same FCC ID. I would great appreciate any and all information about what I need to get. I attached pics of the system that I have.

Thanks

Give cruiserdan or beno a call at American Toyota (board sponsor). Either of them will be able to answer your question and source you the correct fob. Be sure to tell them you are from Mud for a very nice discount. They'll probably even tell you how to program it to! They're just that way - full of knowledge, nice, friendly, helpful, etc. :)

Programming instructions are contained in the manual, which you can download from Slee's website. Very clear instructions. Easy to program

92s didn't have one of those, however mine has key-less entry, is call a Viper alarm. Probably cheaper than the OEM.

I've been helping out with this installation. Those instructions are for the RS3000/3200 system, which this truck does not have, it's something different. I believe it works the same way but we are unclear on what remote to buy.

my keyfob for the same alarm/keyless entry on a 1995 reads

Toyota
Vehicle Security
System
Part No. 08191-00860
FCC ID: BAB237131-013
CANADA 2024 K1431

As far as I know mine is the original FOB, it does not have a long range but it works. Good luck and hope these numbers help you! Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that most two button toyota FOB's will work but it would be best to call Dan as mentioned above and ask him to cross reference the Part Number I gave you and see if that is the correct unit.

In my experience, if the FCC ID doesn't match, you won't get communication between the transmitter and the system. They have to operate on the same radio waves/frequency.

There is a program function on the box. Seems you would just program the box to the code your FOB is throwing out there, much like one would do to program a garage door opener.

FWIW.. I scanned my TVSS manual for the good of the order. PM me if you want me to email a copy to you.

That's the old TVSS (Toyota Vehicle Security System). They started the RS3000 in 95. The system uses the same remote though. The new Toyota part number is PT398-07100, MUD price $63.44. (old # was 08191-00840). If you need the programming instructions I can probably dig them up.

Thanks everyone for the information!! These answers have lead me in the right direction to find the fob! :D I will cross reference this with Dan to make sure I am looking at the right ones and hopefully get a fob soon!

Thanks

Support a Mud vendor and buy them from Dan. His dogs need to be feed too! :D

I have had some people tell me the local guys are stepping up and giving discounts. Good to hear since the LC community has been given the cold shoulder for so long. :D

My local guy offers 10% IIRC. In an emergency, I'll go down there. If not, I'll support a board vendor. God/Dog knows Dan has put up with a lot of questions from me!

so, any thoughts on whether the toyota keyfob is better quality than the aftermarket ebay remocon ones? I am having problems (again) with my 2nd keyfob from remocon and am getting tired of it. Wondering if there is a better aftermarket unit or if the toyota units are better?

*bump*

I'm also curious about the outstanding question...concerning viable alternative remotes (i.e. Remocon RMC-105, etc).

Anyone out there with some insight they can share on this?

Thanks!
