What year are you looking for?

What year is yours?
PM me if you'd consider a 2011. I want a 2016 but I WILL NOT trade my truck in with the upgraded brakes, suspension and wheels.

Thinking of spraying white lithium or silicone, which one would be the best?

Thanks gents!! Extremely helpful and a very informative thread - thanks for the warning!

Located on driver side attached to the frame rail. Has a shroud over it. Find that and look up in the holes you'll see the hex heads. The system controls body roll and helps keep wheels on the ground when under articulation / offroad. Google it and there's Toyota made videos to explain in detail.

Carl, here's a good explanation of KDSS...

I would use either Blaster corrosion stop or fluid film. In my testing Blaster worked a little better when the metal was subjected to frequent water spraying.

I finally got off my but and looked under there. Didn't look too bad. Recently got a lift, so they must have been able to move them. I'm gonna do some preventive maintenance anyway. Appreciate the info and advice.

I did notice though, attached to the shroud where the valve screws are, a small wire connector, that was unplugged....anyone know what that is?

I believe that is for running board lights of the LX.

Sorry to revive an old thread and go offtopic, but I'm trying to install a lift on my GX470 and the holes on the bottom where the shutter valves would be have no allen bolt in them. California car so very clean but it's just a machined hole and nothing in it. Did some of these come without shutter valves?

Does a GX even have KDSS?

Well, I just found out what a rusted mess my KDSS accumulator is. This started out as a shock/strut replacement on my 2011 200 series and developed a lean. Only people that have the pumps to charge the KDSS are Toyota dealers. I'm a believer in Toyota service, but understand why some are not. The part lists for $1310.00 and 1.5 hours labor plus a front end check. The dealer knocked off over $200 to compete with on line pricing. I'll keep this one greased up and sent a warning to the person I bought the vehicle from to keep grease on his new one. Thanks for all the input.

I have a 2019 and looks like they changed the valves to galvanized/anodized hex bolts.

Ok I've had a few drinks of whiskey tonight and this sounded good, but I'm probaby a dumbass. Has anyone tried applying paint to the kdss housing and bolts to prevent rust?

Look for the metal housing in the pic above along the driver side frame, about 2/5th the way back from the front of vehicle.

drivers side, (USA), inside of frame rail, about midway under rear passenger door, just in front of rear trailing arm bracket. 3 bolts hold the cover over the KDSS accumulator.

what a disaster: Toyota service is now claiming that it's a 10 hour repair and extra parts. So, a bilstein shock replacement is going to cost around $3700.00. I've got emails into Toyota corp. looking for answers. For the first time in 25 years I'm upset with my Toyota service. Took it in to get new KDSS accumulator. What does the tech do: disconnects the front sway bar. Did not read up: that is a no no no. I guess he never heard the proverb "look before you leap". I'm without a vehicle till all the parts get here. I'll post when I get it back. Quick note: I did not try but wish I had. weld a nut onto the frozen allen headed shutter valve if it won't open what do have to lose. The heat and extra leverage of the nut may get it lose.
