Hahahaha....for sure I don't WANT to use them but I will. I used the crappy stock one on the transfer on Trail 22 in 2018(?)....truck was much lower though....way more clearance now. Won't be able to sneak under any fallen trees though

Should be interesting this year as I would imagine all the flooding moved around a lot of stuff.

Final day of work on the truck....shakedown trip tomorrow then load her up for Windrock.

Finished the transfer skid plate. Pretty nice setup.

Popped in a few more fasteners....

Painted her black and stuck it in place.....

Got the front skid done. We made a sample bend for our sheet metal guys....they matched our bend perfectly like always. What a luxury to have these guys 2 blocks away. Lot of metal on this truck came from them.

Simple piece...4 threaded holes at the front....2 at the rear. We made small standoffs for those to keep things level. Notched to clear the steering stabilizer bracket.

Now it just needs a fancy C2 DESIGN logo cut in it or something

May pop a few holes in it....we'll see once I get a few miles on it. Not really much to cool in that area.

Second battery installed and wired up. We used the same setup as the #2 truck....Odyssey, Blue Seas ACR and SDHQ billet terminals. The terminals are VERY high quality pieces with lots of places to put things like grounds and power leads. Been looking for really nice terminal for a while....I think I found the ones I like.

Used a set of the billet SDHQ terminals to clean up the primary battery....the OEM stuff was tired(these were probably off the 80 series harness we used). New setup is ultra clean. Love it. Swapped in an Odyssey....need to make a new bracket as this battery is lower than what we had in there.

We've installed Switch Pros in a number of customer trucks....first one I've really got to play with. These things are amazing. Hard to comprehend how much they can do. We're totally underutilizing it for now but there will be some locker switches going in at some point. Top row: KC Roof lights, rear reverse light(white), secondary battery manual connect. Bottom row: Diode Dynamics fog/driving lights, reverse light(red). Pretty neat feature is that you can dim lights with this thing....strobe, flash, last use memory....all kinds of stuff. No fuses with it either.....solid state circuitry. Just an incredible piece of tech and no need to run wires everywhere.

Outside.....ready to roll. Up to the woods tomorrow.

In my experience when Fedex has something a month.....the outcome isn't usually so good. Best of luck with it

Time for a few updates I suppose since I never updated this after the 70s event.

Successful trip to the 70s event at Windrock.....fun to see all the trucks and catch up with friends. I was super happy with the truck...very very different than the last time it was at Windrock....gas powered, full time 4WD and pretty much a stock 80 suspension. Way different game now.....took me some time to get a feeling for this new version.....still need more time.

I am in love with the 1HDT in this truck.....it just hums along on the road and has gobs of torque off-road. And getting close to 18mpg is a great thing compared to the 1FZFE turning in 10.4 or so. Downhill. With the wind behind me. If I had a single complaint, it would be with the transmission.......90s automatic....not exactly the most advanced thing BUT it's reliable and no computer control and I really like the auto box. With the low gears and the diesel....this thing just crawls.

This poor dog didn't want to miss a thing.....so she stays up and watches everything. In all fairness....kind of tough to sleep bouncing along a trail. So when we are done for the day this little beast crashes out. She wants to be in the truck so bad, it's hard to believe. The minute I drop the tailgate in the shop and she goes nuts trying to get in the truck.

Favorite spot....

Which leads to her REAL favorite spot....head on a pillow, crashed out on a bed(in the roof top tent in this case)....

We took a super neat tour of the Brushy State Pen while at Windrock....put her in the hole. If you go to Windrock, take the self guided tour of the prison. It was incredibly interesting.

Got some great news from the guys at Cross Country 4x4.....we had been discussing building a top mount intercooler for the 1HDT in the 79 wide nose body WITH the big scoop DPF hood about a year ago. Hadn't heard from them for a LONG time....out of the blue, I got an email letting me know they were going to get back on the project. Probably not a huge priority for them to make a weird combo like this but I seem to remember them saying that they had guys in South Africa with this same setup. The guy I had originally been dealing with has a DPF hood on a Troopy.....so they have a test rig.

We exchanged some measurements.....and some magic started happening

I believe these first 2 pics were the test fitting of the support for the IC.....there were some concerns with air cleaner placements. They made a few changes. Not sure I understand the V8 for the test but I think he mentioned that this was what they had with the DPF hood although I don't think that's a DPF hood in the pic. Pretty sure they know what they're doing

I was a little confused how they were going to get the DPF scoop ducting to line up....sure seemed like it would push the IC towards the driver's side......it's offset from the factory:

It's a good thing I don't build intercoolers for a living.....never thought about this........just change the ducting to be centered. Who would have thought

Cross Country will supply new ducting to center things.

Getting ready for another trip to Windrock next week over Thanksgiving......working our way south from there. Should be fun but....cold. Maybe. We are FL people....70 degrees is borderline cold. Not messing around.....I plan on having a warm tent.

Spent the last few days building this contraption with a diesel heater I bought on Amazon. Nice piece. Ran it 8 hours today....it got pretty warm....but it's also sucking in 80 degree air. Guessing that when it's 30-40 out, the output temps will be much cooler.

Self contained.....had to use the high lid/top for the box to clear the fuel tank(different tank than what was supplied).

Using a 5 pin connector for power(it uses 12 volts....I will plug it in to a 12v outlet in my bed).....also has a LCD control panel that will go up to the tent.

Intake vents we put in front of the intake of the motor

Exhaust port on the right.....uses a small length of tubing and a tiny muffler. This doesn't come with the kit....I bought it separately.

Made a quick attachment for the vent hose that will feed the tent. That little burner in there gets HOT. Fascinating piece of equipment. Runs very very quietly and sips fuel. Excited to use this thing.
