Thanks for the follow-up, very handy. So the second night I ran the heater for about 12 hours. I was really trying to run it as much as possible to see how much it would burn. The tank is 5L which is 1.3 gallons. When I filled up, it took .67 gallons I think. My fuel pickup is pretty low in the tank.....so I think if I used it a little less, I could get 2 nights out of it pretty easily. I didn't have it too cranked up.....maybe 50%(you can select how much the fuel pump runs.....1.7hertz to 5.5hertz....I kept mine at 2.4). I bet with 2 gallons(tank that can with it was 10L....too big for my setup) and moderate use it would last 4-5 days easy.
It's not super warm by any stretch....I wish I had a thermometer in the tent to see what the temp was inside....I'm guessing mid 60s....not bad when it's 30 or so outside. I've been in FL for 25 years....on about day 2 of living in FL, your blood is thinned out.....so 60 degrees is damn near freezing in my bookI think if I was really doing some longer winter camping, I'd insulate my tent....insulation combined with the little heater would be really nice. As it is, that tent is an aluminum shell with some carpet and heavy nylon walls. Not ideal.
I found on the 3rd night that the smart move was to put the duct under the cover I was under......that kept me very warm. Too warm actually but easy to modulate. All in all, not a bad piece to have.
Soon I'll run out of mods on this truck I think![]()
My wife and I lived in the Middle East for 11 years... and now live in southern AZ. We, and our children, have the same issue as you do... 60 degrees may as well be freezing. We've had a few nights camping here in AZ where we've all agreed we need better sleeping bags and maybe a heater. Ha!
Sad thing is, growing up in Kansas, I used to wear shorts as soon as it broke 60 in the spring!
