I'd like to join this party, are non-UC members permitted? And WTH is Pumpkintown?

Pumpkintown is a small slice of heaven on earth.
Directions are in an earlier post in this thread.
Please join us! Do you plan on making the friday night party
or will you be a saturday visitor only?
Mapquest # 5018 Dacusville highway.
Hey gang, I just remembered that the Oolenoy Community
Center, just below the house, will be having their Blue Grass picking
on friday night as well.
Who is up for a little music on friday night?

Just an update on the # coming with me.

It looks my crew will be 4 or 5.

Worldcruiser (who responded in this thread), my brother (who some of you have met), his better half, myself and maybe his roommate.

Just wanted to keep it current for Marshall's planning.

Of course I will be donating sufficient funds to cover the BBQ eaters that arrive with me.

I've been in there in the past. Absentee land owner will NOT
sell it to me. :( There is about 1500 acres of that stuff butting up to our land.
Wildlife LOVES the area. Plenty of mast crop and water.
The locals swear this is where the often sighted panthers resides.
Both a black and a tan one. Last year some tourists stopped
at the cafe just down the street to tell they had seen it cross the road
in broad daylight at the game trail from our property.
We've heard it and found paw prints at the fish pond. 4" paw print. Yikes!
We usually get a bear sighting in the yard each year. Coyotes are frequent
crooners in the spring. Deer, deer, deer every week. Turkeys in the front
yard a few weeks ago. Bobcats on the rare ocassion.
Spring has yellow root and there is some special plant life in there as well.
LOL...the locals say our spring is so cold it was the first place in the area
where they could make jello. They call the cave up above the spring the "bear cave".
We have NEVER climbed in to check. :)
There is some neat old growth forest in there. Too rough to easily log. :grinpimp:
We'll find some wheeling for ya'll nearby. We'll decide where when we are all here.
Our driveway is the lower one on the right of the picture and snakes through the trees.

Yep, BYOB but designated driver or T totaler to leave :). Strict enforcement.
Bring your tent and a bag if you think you will be BYOBing. Lawn camping.
It will most likely be hot as July. Dress light.
No power, no water, no hookups. Primative. No campfires. Grills allowed.
Friday night will be a more.....adult crowd......around the butts.
Saturday will be more of a pig out, feasting, family fellowship day. Camp
will still be available Saturday night. Closes Sunday at dawn. :grinpimp:

sup fellas,

sorry, looks like i'm goin to have to miss this one. i've had it in the back of mind that the pig pickin was actually on july 4th since i talked to marshall a couple of weeks ago, so i just never put it together that i had a conflict...

doin a triathlon down in hilton head that morning, and i haven't been too gung-ho on re-starting my training, so i imagine that i will not be fit for a drive back to the upstate before headin to fort mill...

sorry again, i'll make it to a couple more meetings before i head up to nashville

trails are open

I stand corrected! The trails in the photo are our hiking trails. :)
I hiked lenght of them yesterday and all are in good condition.
Several trees had fallen during a violent thunderstrom recently
but all which blocked the trails are cleared. Hiking is available
now for those who are so inclined. I'd suggest sturdy footware as these
trails are STEEP and in thick woods. I have several hiking staffs
available to assist in your hike. You'll need one coming back...
trust me. :grinpimp:
JP, of course, will be OK wearing flipoffs. :flipoff2:
