Also took some pics of the accelerator pedal, and bolted it up to the firewall....I think you can see the problem. Like I said, I can only assume on LHD models the pedal different?

I made a couple drawings of what I would think a LHD pedal would look like. I'm hoping Mark or someone can get a few photo's of a LHD unit, just to confirm this?

This style is from a left hand drive 1979 fj40. Notice how it straddles the column mount flange. maybe one like this would work but it uses a hard rod linkage and not a cable.

Second/third pics are from one I picked up at a swap meet. i think its from a 76 era. it has the extra paddle which contacts some sort of switch which I believe has something to do with emissions.

Matt:

I'll snap some pics tomorrow.

On the '79 40 we basically have a modified pedal like the picture above. Removed the hard linkage, and replaced with a Lokar throttle cable. It was easy, and works great.

Check out 8 pictures down on my 1982 Troopy minor resto project, you can see the pedal assembly.

Hope this helps.

The motor in your troopy is a 2F so the pedal to the carb is linkage vs a cable on the 2H. Regardless, those pics are still helpful on a few other things and I love seeing them, as I'm sure many others in the 45 forum do as well!! :)

The pics I need are going to have to come from any LHD 40 or 45 series with a Diesel in it I think, preferably a H or 2H diesel. I suppose a neighbor of yours over there wouldn't happen to have a BJ40/43 or Troopy with a diesel in it next door to you that you could run over and snap a few photo's??:p

Either way, thanks!

Just got this pic via the Netherlands, thanks Mark! aka Troopie.

This is off a LHD 1982 BJ45. Kinda looks to be a combination of the what I have and the linkage type pedal?

I have another question: Is this part still available from Toyota and could it be sourced from a U.S. dealer or would I have to order it oversea's?

I might even have one of those pedals in my stash.
I'll look for it tomorrow.

ps. I should clean my cruiser...

First the LHD center console and now possibly a LHD cable pedal....I don't care what anyone says about you Mark, your ok in my book! :p

Cruiser looks fine, it looks as though you use it!

Looks like you're on the right track, but....

Here's the not stock, aftermarket/modified pedal in the '79 FJ-40 (modified with the 3B).

And here's the stock pedal in my '76 HJ-45.

Don't most Chevy conversions switch to a cable? I think that's where the modified pedal in the '79 came from--I think. (the PO had a Weber on it, and when we switched back to Aisin years and years ago that pedal ended up in the spare parts box--was pretty nice when I realized I needed one for the 3B).

Didn't Downey sell such a beast?

The pedal out of that 76 looks the same as the other style. Looks like they mfg. a little more bracket on top at some point?

Absolutely. Either that or mine got "Honduran'ed" at some point. Neither would surprise me. I'll take a closer look tomorrow, or sometime. ;)

You could also modify a 70 series or 80 seried pedal. That's what I'm running on my 40...just a little bending to get the angle right for the pedal and that was it. Since you don't have holes drilled, any mismatch is a non-issue.

Matt,

Per request... let me know if you need more. These are not that great as it got dark on me. Awesome thread!
