craigslist Is this guy high? $120k FJ40 on CL

Came across this craigslist ad. This guy is asking $120k for a "all original" FJ40. I thought he meant $12k...but based on the way he describes it as "This FJ40 falls into the top 5% of all original land cruisers." I don't think that is the case. Granted if it is actually $12k, this is a STEAL! Here's the ad below:

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

What do you guys think? Is this what a $120k FJ40 looks like?

It’s my post. It’s my FJ40. The OP was pissed because I told him I don’t want his low ball offer. And sent me his number if I shanked my mind. Obviously he wants it. It’s rust free. Some surface but nothing major. Don’t know why he wants to talk s***. If it’s out of his price range then move along. Too easy right?

Good, you're on MUD. Maybe now you'll learn something.

Just know what I got. If you all don’t want it then don’t buy it. Tell your friends who can afford it.
1. No, you don't have a clue.
2. Nobody wants a ridiculously priced vehicle.
3. You do have a sense of humor!

Unsolicited advice, accept a little help pricing it. There is an _expert_ appraiser above. Others can give you a range for your region. If everyone is telling you the same thing, just eat a little humble pie and move on.

Y’all are just trying to get a killer deal. I can get whatever I want you know why? Because they don’t make them anymore and everyone wants one. It might not be today or tomorrow but the right buyer will come along. You don’t have one close to the condition mine is in.

That is a nice solid original fj40. However no fj40 in that condition has sold for that price. A nut n bolt restored fjcompany fj40 sells for 85k. A all original 1976-78 fj40 that has 10k on the odometer and has been in a garage since the 70s with pristine original paint and no scratches or dings would sell for North of 70k at auction. This particular cruiser I could see selling for about 25k at most if u wait around. If your a smooth talker and really talk it up might get 35k from someone who has money and no brains. Listing it on bring a trailer or ebay will prove market value if given an extended auction time. Or could list it in a mecum or Barrett Jackson auction. 100k is a whole different planet as to what that fj40 will ever actually sell for. If it had awesome patina you might have a easier time getting a high price, but white paint doesn't patina very well and it looks like the bezel is repainted which ruins the original patina look too. Also the rear seats are missing, and isn't the hatch missing it's weatherstripping?

Hey guys, no killer deals here. We have to give up, he's on to us and it just isn't working. He's just too clever. :(

The bezel has never been painted. I have the seats and I replaced the weather stripping. You’re the only one on here that has anything of value to say. Much appreciated. I’ve been offered more than what you say it’s worth from a couple people a couple years back. Thank you.

Let me know if someone is seriously interested. It’s a one of a kind head turner. I get stopped every time I drive it by someone who wants to buy it or even look at it.

AFAIK the bezels only came in white or chrome. If you have been offered more than thats impressive.

FFS, the truck is way older than the "seller" ... Why do you believe anything he says about its history? Doesn't even post engine pix or undercarriage proof of no rust yet he's been offered buckets of cash just driving around.

I'm beginning to smell SCAM !

A bunch of know it all haters. I smell jealousy to the max. If you’re not interested then don’t buy it. But I’ll tell you what it’s mine and not yours. Keep chopping up your FJ’s and putting Chevy motors and axles on them. Painting them doing the body work getting rid of the spot welds etc etc. It only makes the value of mine go up. Thanks. But time to block the haters.

Seller wants 4X market value. Provide zero support for condition. Gets butt-hurt when absurd Asking price and apparent condition are questioned.

LOL. Gotta love it. 🍿
All you haters seem more mad about it than I do. Instead of admitting it’s out of your price range you’re trying to bully me to lower my price tag. Just admit you want it and can’t afford it and move along with your keyboard warrior self.
