Is anybody still interested in a center console?

All I can say is wow! This shift console and center console combination is fantastic. I just did a 350 mile drive from Boise, ID to Draper, UT and having a comfortable perch for my right elbow was just what I was looking for. This puts you in a more balanced and natural driving position.

I just snapped a few quick pics so that I could share my initial reaction to my new setup, I will get some better pics after I setup guages, switches, outlets etc.

I went for the whole shebang, shift console, center console, 2 sets of folding double cup holders, shift console tablet mounting base, 1 interior deltaloc panel and a few deltalocs, drop down tray in lid and the black synthetic padded lid.

The install went very smooth, there are a few more steps installing into an LX450 than into a Landcruiser as you need to remove the “sub” and disc changer under the factory console, but still an easy job with clear and thorough instructions.

Delta for the win with another game changing product!!!

Also...I already got the wife’s stamp of approval....she loves cup holders and I now have 5!!!

I came to this forum to spend 10k on a 20+ year old vehicle and have probably spent another 5k on baselining and whatever else suits my fancy. And I’d prob spend another 1k on a glovebox. It’s my money.

Oh boy tough guy talk. Philosophically I find a personal connection to my physical possessions. And those that I cannot produce or wrench on myself I will find a reputable craftsman which shares my values to purchase from.

I’m sure if we spent an afternoon and a case of beer together we’d see eye to eye just fine. I drink miller/natty btw in case you assumed I was a big baller.

***Update***

So last night I found another benefit of this console...it’s actually a Marital Aid!

When driving with my wife, I like to rest my right hand on her left thigh...but it’s not that comfortable without anywhere to rest your elbow/forearm.

With the new console the thigh caressing positioning is now perfect! I attribute last nights lay to the all encompassing design elements Dave and Patrick have put it...thanks fellas!

Another little perk that is less fun than more frequent lays...but still very useful is the little wallet pocket you get when the tablet mount is bolted on. I was always chasing my wallet around the truck...now it stays put.

I would say a better comparison is an HK USP and a Hi-Point 916.

One is a tool relied upon by professionals around the globe, the other is a toy that can be melted down in a frying pan.

Please at least wait until it’s on the market and people have a chance to actually see and feel the build quality difference before you claim its worth.

I would argue that your center console is the Mark 23 of center consoles!!

You can melt a glock in a frying pan, it's still going to punch in the same class as the HK USP in all aspects, except price. Price doesn't always equal quality.

Careful now, you see what happened to me for offending the MUD royalty...

The blind hype is getting absurd. For the folks arguing that the Delta stuff is uber high quality, have you touched any of it? The pictures and hype all look great, but have you looked at it in person? I went over their 80 rear bumper first hand... and there were a lot of short falls that a refined high priced product just shouldn't have. Can it be fixed? Absolutely, and the tech forums are the right place to voice and discuss those concerns. The vendor forums are for marketing.

What "blind hype" are you talking about? Delta has posted hundreds of pictures of every angle of nearly every product they produce + talking about dimensions/materials used/process etc. extensively, I'm not sure what more you could ask for. Additionally, a large portion of posters here do have plenty of first hand experience with their products, myself included. The 80 series land cruiser "market" (if you can even call it that) is incredibly niche and small, I applaud and thank any vendor for being willing to take it on and if you had any sense you would too.

Oh, and I'd love to hear about all the "short falls" of their rear bumper...what a joke.

I'd like to understand the reasoning behind the overhang on the side, I understand that it makes it a nice step but... I'd rather not have a tab to get hung up on the trail, or walk into... I'd make that trade for a smaller step. Same is on the 80.

Couple notes from the 80 bumper I saw... pretty easy to resolve, but things I did not expect to see on a "top of the line" product and things that I hope to not see on the 100 bumpers when they make it into the wild.
- Fastener grip lengths were all pretty short, probably need another 1/16 or so for thread protrusion. No reason a fastener should only half engage the locking feature of a nut. 1.5 thread protrusion if you wanna be legit.
- No washers under some heads/nuts... bit of a bummer, there is no reason a top of the line bumper should ever have nuts turning on the finish. Never ever.
- Strike plate overhangs on sides.
- Swing outs hit head of socket head cap screw when fully open instead of pin catching the hole. Chipped power. Use a pan head instead.

I'm completely torn as to the black or the new brown when that is done, but as soon as I see some of the new brown I'm sure it will help me make a decision as to which one to buy. Looks damn sweet.

As someone who has direct ownership experience with a good portion of Delta’s offerings I feel I am in a position to respond to your misguided claims above.

For reference I own (and purchased) a set of Radius arms, rear panhard bracket, rear bumper with swingouts, tire carrier, Jerry carrier, storage pockets and flip-up table, center console with all the goodies and a shifter console.

This isn’t really the right thread to talk about the Delta bumper, but since you brought this up under the context of quality vs. value of the console I will engage.

It’s virtually impossible to get yourself hung up on the step edge. Here I am standing with my thigh pressing into the bumper and you can see my leg is not touching the step.

In order to possible get your leg to touch the step, you have to literally put your leg under the truck with your foot in the middle of the rear tire. This is unrealistic since the tire would stop you long before the little step gets in your way.

Regarding the usability of the step...having a little extra footing to perch on makes the step not just a fancy pocket but actually useful as a step.

I just looked at ALL of the bolts on my bumper and couldn’t find a single one that was too short or missing a washer....perhaps you saw one that was installed incorrectly? Or you’re making it up.

I wasn’t quite sure what you were taking issue with about the strike plates, but for reference here is the profile of the bumper with the swingouts open...again you can see more bolts...all with washers.
