Don't ask. I am so frustrated with my inability to get my 55 road worthy. I just spent the last week eliminating a bad exhaust leek that I thought I had fixed twice before. I finally ripped out the 82 corvette headers. Replaced everything with new Rams Horn exhausts and Texican's famous cross over pipe, which finally eliminated the exhaust leak (inside the header collector). Then test driving it today.... it was sounding so sweet........:crybaby: Scared the piss out of my dogs and me. I need a 1975+ hood.

I have a 79/78 hood that is in really good shape that I would be willing to sell. I have no idea how to ship it to you though, I live in Tucson, AZ. I'd take a 100 bucks for it. Pm me if interested.

Bill is that the one thats flat or the one with the raised middle?

I've got two flat ones, take your pick.

I've had mine almost 2 yrs now and I have driven it about 1/2 dozen times most of them just around the block. So I feel your pain.

the one he needs should be the raised portion to clear te 2F air cleaner on top of the valve cover....

if you've never had the hood fly up on your vehicle, then you just haven't worked on your rig till you're beat...it is the little things that get you in the end :)

The joy of owning a non running pig. I am so excited to drive my 55 I can't stand it, but my project is still a long way from being finished. I am sure you two will be out wheeling before I even get mine started. I have had my truck for 2 years too, and haven't even driven it around the block in 18 months.

Yea no kidding, I've done it twice now. Good thing was both times I saw the hood rise up just in time to slow down and have it go back down!!

Kinda screws with your visibility... Did that twice with my Jeepster, luckily it didnt 'totally' ruin my perfect hood... Certainly gets the adrenaline up!
Driving obscure cars has it's costs.

Thanks everyone. I have been out all day and just now got back. Yes it is the raised hood for the 1975. But I have a SBC350 in now, so the early hood might work. Rancho Murita is a short drive from here:) I will take you up on the hood offer BK. Everyone else, thank very much for the offers, BK is just a 20min drive from my place. That makes me feell a lot better ;p

after I typed my message, the only person that I could see never having a flying hood would've been Todd, and he works on enough vehicles - I guess everyone one has one of those moments....

I'm betting that the non-raised hood might work...

Got the replacment raised hood from Bill (BKcruiser) yesterday afternoon. Little sanding and paint, it will be good as new. Now, if I can find the paint code for the stock 'white' on a 75 Fj55? Found it. "Cygnus White 012"
