How about making a Hazard knob that has a graphic of a FJ40 instead of a car on it? Always thought the car graphic was a bit silly but I guess Toyota used the same one from the Celica or some other car?

I am assuming that this is a OEM FJ40 Hazard switch.... :D

Oooh Yeah...i'd go for one of those five speed knobs too!!!

A 40-series four-speed shape knob with a 5-speed graphic? No prob. PM sent.

What year did that come off of - I've never seen that before?? If I had to guess I'd say it wasn't OEM, but if you want a knob with a 40 on it that can be done.....

Great - I know the topic came up on page 1. I'd be interested in 2 4spd knobs, 2 t-case (pre-80) knobs and a PTO

I'll see what I can find in my owners manual for PTO knob markings.

PM sent.

I finally got to try out cutting on the new [older] knobs. The top of these are pretty "rounded", so its a full 3-axis milling operation to account for the curvature. I was a little worried about how well I'd be able to set things up, but it came out great!

This is just meant to be a funny twinstick option :D

It's on my 2/71 FJ40. I know the switch itself is OEM but don't know about the knob? On the 69-E70 I keep seeing a little red knob for the Hazard. Then it seems to have changed over to a black knob mid 70. The pic I have is from my archive of 71 vehicles and shows the exact same knob done in red outline. So... I guess it IS OEM!

I'll send you my knob for molding if needed. I would like to see the artwork you come up with for the FJ40 icon. I would draw it up, but I have no artistic talent at all. :frown:

If your willing to do this then place my order for one redesigned Hazard knob. :D

Looks great!

Still looking for PTO image...

This is going to be a bit tough, those details are getting prettttttty small.

I can probably do this, however, what do you think?:

You will be looking for a long time....The knob did not have any markings on them...they were a simple, round, black knob...as pictured in post #38

:meh:

Curses! So this must be an aftermarket/non-factory PTO:

Here is all the more detail the manual gives?

My PTO lever goes forward of N and back from the N position. I assume the back position is to feed, in spite of what the manual says...

What do y'all think would be meaningful markings for a PTO knob?

I tried a few more tonight, all good. Also, I received my "source" knobs for the 40 and 60 series shifters, so I'll try out the 5-speed thing that Mr. Tofu is dying for tomorrow. Stay tuned...

I'm concerned we might run afoul of the moderators if this thread turns into an order form, sooo... Instead of posting here, please PM me if you're interested in buying something. Also from now on orders can be placed through my new website Kickass Stuff For Your 40-Series

:grinpimp:

Poser, mailing your knob back tomorrow.

Hey Amaurer,
I like your work,

I just had a lazy arvo so had a play with photoshop, (and I am not very good at it)
how about something like this for your hazzard symbol.
I sortof like this 40 series outline (altered an image from an original toyota brochure), but but the actual light symbol could be anything?

"Amaurer", I'll send you the PTO knob from the FJ55 as well as the light and wiper and whatever other knobs I can find from the FJ45LV.

Steve, do you know what time period the PTO knob is correct for? I'm trying to decide if I need one of these or one that looks more like the transfer knob for the '76 FJ55. I assume that the knob I have is correct for a '67 FJ45LV.

The PTO shifter knob that you have was used until around 1972, iirc. My 09/76-55 that has a factory PTO set up had the transfer case style knob.

Hi Drew.

Love your knobs  So much so that I'd like to order a PTO knob.

This is what I've got now (textured top):

WinchKnob1.webp

So I'd like the same but with "In-N-Out" on it. A bit like this:

WinchKnob2.webp

We can PM each other maybe? (re. Payment method, My address etc)

PS. I don't really like the way I've drawn the letters on the knob - I'm sure you can do better. (The image is just to give you an idea of the way I want it.)

And I seem to suffer Alzheimer's. Every time I go to use the winch - I can't remember which way the lever goes. So one of your fabulous knobs would help an old fella like me cope with this better.

How about a clear insert like on the headlight switch but with other things scribed on the inside of them?

Also what about making some knobs for some illuminated switches?

Push-Pull Switch, Illuminates Blue When Activated 12v/10 amp Blade Terminals

Push-Pull Switch, Illuminates Blue When Activated 12v/30 amp Blade Terminals

Love the old school locker switches. May have to buy a few and change my dash layout.

Clear insert would be cool, is it possible? Would it add to cost?

I don't really know what you guys mean about the "clear insert" - I've never seen a headlight knob with such a beast.

I can do the lighted knobs, but yes they'll be more expensive. Reason being, the switch itself is more expensive, and I'll have to go back to using a clear resin with a black external coating (paint or something).

Pablo I'm all set up to do the 4spd knobs now, both the 40-series and the 60-series shape. I did a test run of the 5-speed graphic on the 60-series 4-speed knob and, can you believe it, I drew the graphic wrong and have the numbers in the wrong place! DOH! I'll throw up a picture when I make a new one.

Really?

Post up a picture of the headlamp switch in your 1982...
